Verizon will charge $10 a month to use two iPhones with one number

Verizon launches iPhone Handoff that lets you use the same phone number between two iPhones $10 per month announced the fee. The price in the carrier’s iPhone Duo announcement covers customers in the US who want to switch between two compatible devices. The operator-dependent structure of iPhone Handoff is thus also embodied on the fee side. Verizon says it will offer the service “soon,” but does not give an exact launch date in the statement.

The company shows the transition between iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro as a usage example. The customer will keep the same Verizon number when changing the device they will be using at the time. Compatible iPhones running iOS 27 form the basis of the service. In addition, the mobile operator must provide support in its own infrastructure. Just upgrading to the new iOS version does not automatically turn on the feature in every country.

Apple’s setup documentation explains that the phone number remains active on only one iPhone at a time. When the user unlocks the device they want to switch to, the number is moved to that phone. Calls, voicemails, messages and Find location also switch depending on the device used. Therefore, the system does not offer the same experience as using two independent lines at the same time.

To set up, both iPhones must be running iOS 27 or newer, be connected to Wi-Fi, and use the same Apple Account. It is also required that FaceTime and iMessage sessions be open with the same account. Messages in iCloud helps sync messages. Apple notes that the carrier may charge additional fees when signing up for the service.

Verizon charges twice as much as T-Mobile

T-Mobile’s September 10 announcement gives a $5 monthly price for iPhone Handoff. The amount announced by Verizon corresponds to twice this price. When we calculate only the announced monthly service fees over 12 months, it turns out to be $120 for Verizon and $60 for T-Mobile. This simple comparison does not include phone costs, main mobile plans or other fees. Therefore, it does not show that the total bill of the two operators is separated at the same rate.

For those who use two iPhones, usage limits are as important as the price. Apple Watch does not automatically pair to another phone with Handoff toggle. Some Wallet items can also only work on one device at a time. Apple also requests that the carrier be contacted to shut down the service. Deleting the eSIM from the phone may not mean that the operator stops charging. Verizon’s US announcement does not provide pricing or availability information for carriers in Türkiye.
