In the Mission S concept introduced on October 15, Porsche removed the fixed center screen from the cabin and showed a layout where the phone would take over when needed. In addition to the brand’s future design line, the new car also points to a mid-engine product family that will be positioned above the 911. The statement, which comes at a time when 911 deliveries are growing, does not describe a car that will replace the current model, but a permanent option that will be at a higher level.
The Mission S’s front console has neither a fixed center screen nor a separate screen for the front passenger. Porsche instead A MagSafe-compatible retractable phone holder designed it. The driver will be able to use his own phone as navigation or information display when needed.
At the center of the five round instruments behind the steering wheel is a tachometer with an analog needle. The digital surface on the back supports different displays. When the driving mode changes, the display pattern also changes and the tachometer can move closer to the driver. So instead of removing digital functions completely, Porsche uses them in conjunction with physical controls.
The My Porsche app also forms part of this approach. The app provides access to digital designs for round gauges inspired by past models. In addition, the push and pull controls on the front console offer direct access to comfort and driving functions.
The new platform will be the basis for a permanent family on 911
Porsche isn’t describing the Mission S as a one-off hypercar project. The company wants to develop a super sports car family that it will constantly offer with the new mid-engine platform. However, the promotion does not share engine power, acceleration, sales price or production start date. The appearance of the concept does not in itself confirm these values.
This trend should not be read separately from the company’s current sales chart. Porsche delivered 178,532 cars in the first nine months of 2026, with total deliveries down 16 percent compared to the same period last year. In comparison, the 911 family grew by 12 percent with 42,217 deliveries. In the same report, the company stated that it continues its approach of considering value per vehicle before sales volume.
It is not possible to make sales calculations today for the new family that Mission S refers to. The current delivery report shows the strong place of the 911 in the brand, while the concept announcement reveals the intention to open a new space above this car. Technical details and schedule of the production model await further announcements from Porsche.
