iPhone Duo or Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8?

When choosing a foldable phone, you need to consider two things before the screen size: For what purposes will you use the large screen and how much do you want to change the habits of your current phone? iPhone Duo appeals to those who continue to use iPhone and seek a larger workspace. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 offers a lower starting price, lightweight body and multiple window options. However, the choice is not so simple that it can only be made by calculating the price difference.

Same screen size, different carrying experience

Samsung’s official Galaxy Z Fold8 page states that the inner screen is 7.6 inches and the outer screen is 5.5 inches. The device weighs 201 grams and reaches 4.5 mm thick when opened. According to Apple’s specifications, the iPhone Duo also has a 7.6-inch internal screen and an external screen of 5.4 inches. Apple’s phone weighs 254 grams, is 5.2 mm thick when open and 11.3 mm thick when closed.

The difference of 53 grams is a difference that should be taken into consideration, especially by those who hold the phone for a long time. However, lightness alone does not explain grip comfort. The short and wide body of the Fold 8 requires the palm to be opened more when used indoors. This is why palm fatigue felt during long use was noted in the Galaxy Z Fold 8 review. If you have small hands, don’t just turn the phone on and off in the store. Writing on a closed screen for a few minutes gives more meaningful insight.

Just because the Duo is heavier doesn’t necessarily mean it will feel more uncomfortable in the hand. It is not possible to evaluate the distribution of weight and the contact of the edges to the palm without using it. Also consider the volume the case will add. It is important that the foldable phone fits in your pocket as well as making it easier to read notifications, answer calls and write text messages with one hand.

Look beyond the numbers on the display and hinge

It was comfortable to read the screen under the sun while using the Fold 8. The fold mark does not get in the way of the content when viewed directly, but is slightly felt when light is reflected or when passed over with a finger. No significant brightness decrease due to heating was observed during the usage period. These are not daily use notes, controlled gloss measurement or a guarantee of durability in all conditions.

Apple reports up to 120 Hz ProMotion on the Duo, a nano-texture finish on the inner display, and up to 3000 nits of outdoor peak brightness on both displays. It would not be right to directly rank these values with the Fold 8’s outdoor usage experience. In the same environment, readability, reflection and preservation of brightness during long use should also be examined.

The way it is used on the hinge side is also important. In the Fold 8 review, it was seen that the angle range at which the device could remain half-open was limited, and after a certain point, it tended to open completely. Apple’s Duo introduction highlights watching videos at adjustable angles on the table and hands-free FaceTime use. If your priority is to have a conversation without using support at the table, consider this difference. It is important to know how stable Duo is at which angles without testing it.

Software is what turns the big screen into work

Galaxy Z Fold 8 comes with One UI 9 based on Android 17. Samsung allows the use of two or three split screens in supported applications. The explanations on the official purchase page also confirm Samsung DeX support. For those who want to set up a desktop-like workspace with compatible displays and accessories, this is an option that goes beyond the phone’s own display.

Drag and drop on the Fold 8 was one of the features that really came in handy for day-to-day tasks. Keeping the source content on one side and working on the other reduces the need to constantly switch between applications. The value here is less about how many windows are open on the screen at the same time, and more about how many unnecessary steps are eliminated from your work. Three windows may not be necessary for everyone. Even keeping the text you read and the note field side by side can provide sufficient gain.

On the Duo side, iOS 27’s Split View feature opens two applications side by side. Apple also demonstrates dragging images from Photos to Mail. Therefore, multitasking is no longer a possibility offered only by Samsung in this comparison. The real question is how the apps you use every day will adapt to the new screen layout. We have yet to evaluate the fluidity of these transitions in Duo.

Consider the three apps you use most before purchasing. If using them together speeds up your work, you have a solid reason for a foldable screen. If you spend most of your day messaging in a single application, the benefit of the pop-up screen may be more limited. Just because the screen is large does not in itself mean that you will work more efficiently.

Megapixels for the camera do not determine the winner

Fold 8 has a 50 MP main and 50 MP ultra-wide camera. The 2x optical quality zoom stated by Samsung should not be confused with a separate telephoto camera. Duo has a 48 MP main and 48 MP ultra-wide camera. Apple also offers 2x optical quality zoom from the main camera. Image quality cannot be judged between these two phones based solely on the numbers 48 and 50.

In the Fold 8 review, daytime colors and close-up details were found to be positive, while at night, reflections around bright lights and softening of distant fine textures were observed. We don’t yet know how the Duo will fare in similar scenes. If photography is decisive for you, it is healthier to wait for samples taken in the same light than to choose an expensive phone based on its technical specifications.

Apple announces Dolby Vision recording support for up to 120 frames at 4K resolution on the main camera. If you really use such a recording format, Duo’s video options are worth checking out. If you are considering videos of children, pets or walking, focus, moving scenes and stabilization are just as important as resolution. We do not declare winners in these areas without comparative testing.

Look for the same conditions in performance and battery

Fold 8’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor provided a smooth experience in daily use. Slight heating was felt when using the X, but there was no significant performance drop in observed usage. This result does not mean that the device will behave the same during long gaming sessions or at every ambient temperature. A comparison has not yet been made with the Duo’s A20 Pro processor in the same workloads.

On the battery side, it would be misleading to compare the manufacturer’s video playback time to the mixed usage time in a review. How long you keep the internal screen open and your mobile connection and navigation habits change the result. If you are evaluating both devices for battery alone, wait for tests under common conditions. Include your charging adapter and the case you will use in your total budget. Don’t assume that the accessories you have will work with the new phone as quickly as you want.

Türkiye prices and purchasing conditions

On October 17, 2026, in the Apple Turkey store, the 256 GB model of the iPhone Duo is listed as 229,999 TL, the 512 GB model is listed as 246,999 TL, the 1 TB model is listed as 280,999 TL, and the 2 TB model is listed as 335,999 TL. There are Night Color and Star Color options. While pre-ordering is ongoing, the start of sales is stated as October 23. This date does not mean that every order placed today will be delivered on the same day.

In the last week’s scanned record of Samsung’s official store, Fold 8’s 256 GB and 12 GB RAM options are seen as 131,999 TL, 512 GB and 12 GB RAM options are 143,999 TL, and 1 TB and 16 GB RAM options are 167,999 TL. The difference between these list prices and 256 GB models is 98,000 TL. These amounts are not live cart verification for October 17, but are the last available official price record used in the comparison. Do not treat exchange, package and payment campaigns as unconditional discounts.

Duo uses eSIM only. Check with your carrier for porting and activation conditions for your existing line. Fold 8 offers nano SIM and eSIM options. The delivery date, stock of the chosen color and capacity, and warranty coverage should also be part of the final decision. If you are going to change your phone urgently, look at the delivery window shown on your order rather than the pre-order date.

Which one makes more sense for which user?

If you want to immediately incorporate the foldable screen into your daily work, carry a lighter device and limit the purchase cost, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is a stronger starting point. Seeing that features such as multi-window and drag and drop work in real use also supports this choice. However, do not ignore the width of the closed body and your camera expectations.

If you carry out your current work on iPhone and want a large screen without leaving the applications and services you use, Duo is a more meaningful candidate. However, calculate whether keeping the current setup is worth the price difference for you. Applications that can be re-imported when changing platforms, workflows to be used to, and accessory compatibility should also be included in this calculation.

The most cautious option is to wait for Duo’s real usage results. We have experience with Fold 8, but there are still no official promises and features about Duo. With today’s information, Fold 8 stands out in terms of budget and multitasking. The case for the Duo is strong for those looking to keep their iPhone habits, but the final verdict on camera, battery and ergonomics should be made upon review.
