New information continues to emerge about Samsung’s next upper segment foldable phone, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. According to the latest claim, the company is preparing a remarkable improvement on the screen side in the new model. Ice Universe, known for its reliable leaks, claimed that the device will offer a significantly higher screen resolution compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 7. However, the leak did not provide any details about which screen the resolution would increase or what the technical values would be.
It is said that Samsung will introduce the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra model at the Galaxy Unpacked event, which is expected to be held in London on July 22. Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 models are also expected to be announced at the same event. Although the company has not yet made an official confirmation about the event, information that has emerged in recent weeks points to this date.
Galaxy Z Fold 7 came with an internal foldable screen with a resolution of 1968 x 2184 pixels and an external screen with a resolution of 1080 x 2520 pixels. The new leak suggests that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will offer a significant resolution increase on at least one of these two panels. However, there is no mention of any changes in screen sizes or panel technology. Therefore, the impact of the resolution increase on image sharpness, text readability and multimedia experience will only become clear with the official launch.
Other expectations for Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra
Previously shared leaks indicate that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will come with various innovations not only on the screen side but also in hardware and design. Accordingly, the fold mark on the foldable screen of the device will be much less noticeable than the previous generation. Considering the improvements Samsung has made in hinge design in recent years, this expectation can be considered as a continuation of the improvements in previous models.
On the processor side, it is claimed that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform will be used. This chipset is expected to offer higher performance compared to the previous generation, especially in the areas of artificial intelligence-supported operations, graphics performance and energy efficiency. It is also claimed that the device will carry a battery with a capacity of 5,000 mAh. Although there does not appear to be a major change in battery capacity, it may be possible to positively affect battery performance in daily use thanks to the efficiency provided by the new processor.
In terms of storage options, it is stated that 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB alternatives will be offered. Color options include Cream, Graphite, Shadow Green and Shadow Purple. Considering that Samsung has continued to offer different storage and color combinations in its premium foldable models in recent years, this information seems to be in line with its current product strategy.
For now, all the details shared about the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra are based on unofficial sources. In particular, it remains unclear which panel the increase in screen resolution covers and how this will be reflected in the technical specifications. Despite this, recent leaks indicate that Samsung aims to exceed the previous generation in screen quality, performance and design in its new foldable flagship. With the official launch, all the technical features of the device and the regions where it will be marketed will become clear.
