It seems that work continues on OnePlus’ compact-sized flagship series. A recent claim claimed that the company would not offer the OnePlus 15T model in India under the name OnePlus 15s. This information was found remarkable because OnePlus 13T, introduced last year, met with users in the Indian market under the name OnePlus 13s. A new leak shows that the company is already working on next year’s model.
According to information shared by Chinese leak source Digital Chat Station, the company continues its development work on OnePlus 16T. Although it has been a long time since the device was introduced, the first technical details have begun to emerge, indicating that the company has not completely abandoned the compact flagship category. Although large-screen phones have become more common, especially in recent years, smaller-sized upper segment models continue to be in demand by certain user groups.
According to the leak, OnePlus 16T is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s next generation flagship processor, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. However, it is not yet clear whether the version to be used will be the standard model or the Pro variant, which is expected to offer more powerful features. The official announcement of Qualcomm’s new generation platform is expected to be made in the coming period.
OnePlus 16T may continue its compact display concept
Screen details are also among the shared information. Accordingly, OnePlus 16T is planned to come with a 6.3-inch flat screen. Considering that many flagship models today are turning to 6.7-inch and above screen sizes, the 6.3-inch panel can position the device among the more compact options. In addition, it is stated that the screen will offer an “ultra-high” refresh rate. However, it is not known at this stage exactly what value this expression corresponds to.
It is stated that other technical specifications have not been finalized yet. Elements such as camera system, battery capacity, charging technologies and design details are expected to become clear as the development process progresses. However, considering OnePlus’ recent product strategy, it seems likely that the device will maintain a performance-focused approach. In addition, larger capacity silicon-carbon battery technologies are expected to become widespread in next generation models.
On the other hand, the emerging information also shows that OnePlus’ compact flagship series continues to attract attention in the Chinese market. While there is uncertainty about whether the OnePlus 15T will be offered under a different name in India, it is not yet known whether the series will be re-opened to global markets in the future. However, the fact that the company has started working on OnePlus 16T reveals that this product category has not been completely shelved.
More information about both Qualcomm’s new generation processors and OnePlus’ future product plans is expected to emerge in the coming months. For now, current leaks indicate that a OnePlus model that is compact in size but offers high-end hardware may be available to users next year.
