Xiaomi has unveiled its new foldable phones, the Mix Fold 4 and Mix Flip. The Mix Fold, which we will cover in another article, is the company’s first foldable phone with a “clamshell” design, while the Mix Fold 4 follows in the footsteps of models from previous years.
The Mix Fold 4 will compete with new foldable phones like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Honor Magic V3. While the Mix Fold 4 is similar to its predecessor in general terms, some changes to the design of the rectangular camera module stand out. The module is slightly enlarged, and its bottom edge is also curved.
The power button on the Mix Fold 4 also doubles as a fingerprint scanner. The foldable phone features Xiaomi’s Dragon Bone Engine 2.0 technology, which is said to increase reliability and maintain thinness. Developed with the T800H high-strength carbon fiber architecture to reduce weight, the Mix Fold 4’s hinge is said to be durable for 500,000 uses.
The phone is 9.47 mm thick when folded and 4.59 mm when opened. Weighing 226 grams, the phone comes with an IPX8 water resistance certification.
The Mix Fold 4’s 6.56-inch outer screen curves to all four sides. The 7.98-inch foldable screen offers a resolution of 2488 x 2224 pixels. Both screens use an OLED panel, while 120 Hz refresh rate, 3000 nits maximum brightness, HDR10, HD Vivid and Dolby Vision support are also common features of the screens. One of the phone’s front cameras is located inside the ultra-thin glass-covered foldable screen.
The cameras of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 were developed in collaboration with Leica. On the back, the main camera is a 50-megapixel sensor. A 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, a 50-megapixel portrait telephoto camera with 2x zoom, and a 50-megapixel periscope camera with 5x zoom complete the system. In the camera application, users are offered filters and photo styles developed in collaboration with Leica.
At the heart of the foldable phone is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. The RAM options accompanying this processor extend up to 16 GB. The maximum option for storage will be 1 TB. The phone gets the energy it needs from a 5100 mAh battery with 67W wired and 50W wireless charging support.
How much should I pay for the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4?
Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 will be sold in China starting at 8999 yuan (40911 TL). For this price, users will be offered 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Color options are black, white and blue.
