Tecno and MediaTek established a joint lab for artificial intelligence studies

Tecno and MediaTek have deepened their collaboration in AI technologies by establishing a new joint AI lab in Shenzhen. The joint venture aims to accelerate the integration of AI into smartphones and provide a more advanced mobile experience for users in emerging markets. Aiming to disseminate AI technologies globally, the lab stands out as an important step in this field led by Tecno and MediaTek.

The official opening event of the lab was attended by Shi Tuanwei, General Manager of Tecno TEX AI Center; Liu Longzhi, Tecno’s Global Corporate Communications Leader; Dr. Lu Zhongli, Deputy General Manager of MediaTek Computing and AI Technology; and Li Shaoding, Director of MediaTek Wireless Product Software Development.

Smartphones have become a key platform for AI applications due to their powerful computing capabilities, broad application ecosystem, and mobility advantages. The new AI lab will focus on innovations such as large language models, AI assistants, intelligent agents, and advanced imaging technologies on mobile devices. This will accelerate the development and dissemination of AI-enabled mobile services.

As a leading smartphone brand in emerging markets, Tecno continues to explore major language models, AIGC imaging, and AI voice assistant technologies in multiple languages. Tecno’s AI assistant Ella facilitates users’ daily lives by supporting them with functions such as intelligent task management, schedule planning, and photo editing. Ella stands out with its features tailored to local languages ​​and lifestyles in emerging markets.

Under this collaboration, Tecno will leverage its experience in developing AI algorithms and applications, particularly for emerging markets, while MediaTek will drive AI innovation by leveraging its leading chip design capabilities and computing platform to enable AI algorithms to run efficiently on mobile devices.

Shi Tuanwei, General Manager of Tecno TEX AI Center, emphasized that AI technologies will create a big technology wave for smartphones in the future. He stated that Tecno and MediaTek aim to provide next-generation AI solutions for smartphones with this lab.
