Siri’s new AI features could arrive in iOS 18.3, sooner than expected

Apple’s digital assistant Siri is preparing for a major update based on artificial intelligence. It was initially thought that these innovations would come with iOS 18.4, but according to information received, some of Siri’s features may meet users in iOS 18.3. According to details reported by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple Intelligence technology that Apple has integrated into Siri may be available for use earlier than planned.

Gurman stated in the Power On newsletter, “The biggest update after iOS 18.1 will be iOS 18.4, but some new Siri features are planned to be included in iOS 18.3.” While iOS 18.4 is expected to be released in March 2025, the news that Siri’s innovative artificial intelligence features may come earlier stands out as an interesting development, especially for those who actively use Apple’s voice assistant.

New Siri features may come with iOS 18.3

These AI-based features that Apple will bring to Siri aim to enable the digital assistant to understand what is on the user’s screen and provide a more personalized experience. In this way, Siri will be able to provide more intelligent and contextual answers based on the user’s current situation and preferences. With these features, Siri is expected to be much more than a digital assistant and become a more efficient assistant in daily use. However, there is no clear information yet about which features will come with iOS 18.3.

This new technology, called Apple Intelligence, aims to strengthen Siri’s basic structure and ensure that it does not fall behind its competitors. It is expected to increase Apple’s competitive power, especially against the AI-powered voice assistants of technology giants such as Google and Amazon. Siri gained a new interface and the ability to respond to multiple commands with the iOS 18.1 update, but this update was not a step in which the assistant’s AI capabilities were fully put into use.

The restructuring process of Siri, which started with iOS 18.1, will be completed with the iOS 18.2, iOS 18.3 and finally iOS 18.4 updates, enriched with artificial intelligence technologies. iOS 18.1 is expected to be available in October 2024, iOS 18.2 in December and iOS 18.3 in January 2025. As a result, Apple can offer all of Siri’s Apple Intelligence-powered features to users before iOS 18.4, which will be released in March 2025.

The artificial intelligence features announced at Apple’s WWDC 2024 event aim to make Siri a more effective assistant in daily use. Siri’s ability to analyze applications, messages or other content on the screen and provide more accurate responses will provide great convenience for users. These new capabilities of Siri will enable users to use the assistant more effectively not only with voice commands but also based on personal contexts.
