YouTube Premium prices have increased in many European countries

YouTube Premium subscribers are seeing significant price increases, especially across Europe. While users in Europe are reporting significant price hikes on individual and family plans, YouTube has made the decision to increase prices globally. Subscribers are now being sent emails informing them of the new pricing, which will go into effect in November.

For example, in Belgium, the Netherlands and Italy, the price of a family plan increased from 18 euros to 26 euros, while individual plans increased from 12 euros to 14 euros. Users in Switzerland will now pay 34 Swiss francs per month instead of 24 Swiss francs, and in Sweden prices increased from 179 kronor to 279 kronor.

The full list of countries where the price increase will apply is expected to be published by YouTube, but until then, users should keep an eye on their emails.

There is no news of an increase in YouTube Premium Türkiye prices yet

There is no price increase for Turkey yet. However, the fact that prices have increased in many countries in Europe means that it would not be a surprise if a similar practice were implemented in Turkey.

This price hike seems quite aggressive. Reddit users have noted that YouTube Premium has become one of the most expensive platforms, especially for those who want to use YouTube Music. For example, Spotify charges an average of €18 for a family plan in Europe and around €11 for an individual plan (prices may vary by country). Apple Music, on the other hand, offers the same pricing as Spotify for an individual plan, while charging €1 less for a family plan.

Despite the price hike, YouTube Premium’s range of services could be attractive to a wide range of users. Benefits like ad-free video streaming, background playback, and YouTube Music suggest that the platform has some value. However, for those who only use the service to listen to music, there are more affordable alternatives.
