Xiaomi expanded its smartphone series in the entry segment with the Redmi 17C model. The new model, which became official in China, offers hardware that focuses on basic needs with its MediaTek Helio G81 Ultra processor, 120 Hz refresh rate screen and large capacity battery. The phone, which comes with the Android 16-based HyperOS 3 operating system, also stands out with its up-to-date software experience at a low price level. While the device is available with 64 GB and 128 GB storage options, the storage space can be increased thanks to microSD card support.
Redmi 17C has a 6.88-inch IPS LCD screen on the front. Offering a resolution of 720 x 1640 pixels, this panel supports 120 Hz refresh rate and can reach the highest brightness level of 600 nits. While these technical features provide a smoother screen experience, especially in daily use, they bring the higher refresh rate compared to many competitors in the entry segment to an accessible price level. However, HD+ level resolution offers lower detail compared to Full HD screens. However, it can also be taken into consideration that it can provide more efficient use in terms of battery consumption.
Redmi 17C focuses on daily use with its basic hardware features
The phone is powered by the MediaTek Helio G81 Ultra processor. While this chipset is accompanied by 4 GB RAM, users can choose between 64 GB or 128 GB storage options. Expanding the storage capacity with a microSD card provides a significant advantage for entry-level users. While the device offers sufficient hardware for daily applications, social media use and basic gaming experience, it is naturally limited in operations requiring higher performance compared to middle and upper segment models.
On the camera side, Redmi 17C features a single main camera with a resolution of 13 megapixels on the back. On the front, there is a 5-megapixel camera for video calls and selfies. Technical specifications show that the device aims to meet basic user expectations regarding photography. In addition, it can be said that the camera system is mostly aimed at daytime shooting and is expected to offer a more modest performance in low light conditions compared to upper segment models.
The energy need is met by the battery with a capacity of 5,160 mAh. The phone offers 18 W wired charging support. When combined with its large battery capacity, HD + resolution screen and entry-level hardware, it is expected to provide long usage time on a single charge. On the other hand, 18 W charging support means longer charging times compared to models that offer higher-speed charging solutions today.
Redmi 17C is designed with dimensions of 171.88 x 77.8 x 8.22 mm and a weight of 206 grams. The fingerprint reader placed on the side is among the preferred solutions in terms of both security and practical use. The model, which is offered for sale in black, red and light blue color options, comes with Android 16-based HyperOS 3 out of the box. Xiaomi’s HyperOS platform brings system optimizations and cross-device connectivity features while maintaining integration with the Android ecosystem.
The sales price of Redmi 17C in China was announced as 799 yuan (approximately 5440 TL) for the version with 64 GB storage and 899 yuan (approximately 6140 TL) for the model with 128 GB storage. For now, there is no official statement as to whether the device will be available for sale in international markets. Considering the technical features it offers and its starting price, Redmi 17C is positioned as a balanced entry-level option targeting users who want to meet their basic smartphone needs.
