Qualcomm is taking an important step for ARM -based Chromebooks. The company’s new generation Snapdragon X Plus processor has been developed for use on laptops with Chromeos. Developer records in the Chromium project show that the Snapdragon X1P42100 code is included in the support list of this processor. This development indicates that Qualcomm -based Chromebooks can offer higher performance in the future.
The Snapdragon X Plus is positioned as a sub -model of Qualcomm’s X Elite processor. However, the device comes with an NPU with 45 Tops artificial intelligence capacity. This performance value seems to provide fast and efficient operation in many current applications. Especially in artificial intelligence -supported workflows, this high capacity can contribute to the Chromebook experience.
However, Qualcomm’s previous ARM -based Chromebook initiatives could not achieve the expected success. Although Snapdragon 7C -based models offered long battery life, it was behind its competitors in terms of performance. Acer Chromebook Spin 513 and Lenovo Chromebook Duet 3 offer concrete examples. On the other hand, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7C Gen 3 was not available for Chromebooks, causing a gap in this area.
Chromebook experience will develop significantly with the new Snapdragon X Plus processor
The Snapdragon X Plus attracts attention with its 10 ORYON Core. These nuclei can work up to 3.4 GHz frequency and offer superior performance compared to the Apple M3 chip, especially at multiple process loads. All this will reveal a more fluent and efficient experience when combined with Chromeos’s light structure. In addition, thanks to the energy efficiency of Snapdragon X Plus, fanless and fine Chromebook designs can be opened.
In addition, integrated Adreno GPU will also provide significant improvement in terms of graphic processing capacity. Android applications and Linux -based applications will become more fluent on Chromeos. This may increase the charm of Chromebooks in both training and business usage scenarios. But it should not be forgotten that the official launch date is still uncertain.
Although there has not been an official announcement of Snapdragon X Plus -based Chromebook models by the company, developer resources indicate that active work continues. This means that the first models can be announced in the front months. In addition, increasing competition with MediaTek’s Kompanio Ultra series will offer more options for users. Therefore, a significant mobility is expected in the market.
In terms of end users, Snapdragon X Plus Chromebooks can offer longer battery life, advanced performance and increasing portability. However, pricing and hardware options will also be decisive in the success of these devices. However, Qualcomm is expected to take a more ambitious approach this time.
