Oppo will officially showcase its new mobile operating system, ColorOS 17, at the ColorOS 17 Promotion and Developer Conference to be held on September 17, 2026. It is stated that the new version, developed on the basis of Android 17, will first be presented to users with the Find X10 series, which is expected to be introduced at the same event. While ColorOS 17 focuses especially on the movements of the interface and transitions between applications, a new floating island navigation system that works throughout the system also attracts attention. While the fluid animation structure that Oppo highlighted with ColorOS 16 is preserved, an interface that provides more distinct and flexible visual responses to touches has been prepared. Thus, the event on September 17 will reveal not only the hardware features of the Find X10 family, but also the software experience that Oppo phones will use in the coming period.
The new floating island system will be used across the majority of ColorOS 17’s own applications, providing a common navigation approach across different parts of the operating system. Interface elements that the user touches will be able to stretch, compress and then return to their previous form depending on the interaction. These animations will not just be a visual change; It is stated that Oppo has also made various optimizations to increase performance on the software side. According to the shared information, an approximately 35 percent improvement in interface fluency is achieved, while the first opening times of applications are expected to be reduced by approximately 20 percent. There is talk of an increase of up to 50 percent in the number of applications that can be effectively kept in the background; This improvement may reduce the need to reinstall applications, especially for users who frequently switch between applications.
ColorOS 17 update may reach more than 130 models
It is claimed that ColorOS 17 will not remain exclusive to the Find X10 series and will reach more than 130 models covering the Oppo, OnePlus and Realme brands after distribution begins. The detailed distribution schedule regarding which devices and on which dates the update will be available has not yet been announced. However, the fact that closed beta tests started on some current devices in early August shows that Oppo has been testing the new version under real usage conditions for a while. A limited number of users who participated in the test program have already had the opportunity to experience the new navigation layout and updated animations. More detailed information about how the system innovations provided by the Android 17 base will combine with Oppo’s own interface optimizations can be announced on September 17.
The main innovation of the event on the hardware side will be the Find X10 family. According to available information, Oppo is expected to show three different Find X10 models in September. The standard model of the series, Find X10, is expected to come with a relatively compact 6.59-inch 1.5K resolution screen and carry an 8,000 mAh battery. On the camera side, there are two 200 megapixel sensors, one of which will be used as the main camera and the other as a periscope telephoto camera. It should be noted that these features have not yet been confirmed by Oppo and are based on pre-launch leaks.
The screen and camera features are expected to be taken further in the Find X10 Pro and Find X10 Pro Max models. While 6.78 inch or larger screen options are mentioned for the two phones, it is stated that MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro can be used on the processor side. In particular, the Find X10 Pro Max is expected to differ from other models with its camera system. Allegedly, the phone may have a 200-megapixel resolution sensor in each of the main, ultra-wide-angle and telephoto cameras. If such a structure is confirmed, Oppo will try to offer a similar level of detail at different focal lengths instead of focusing only on high resolution in the main camera; However, it is not possible to evaluate camera performance based solely on resolution values without explaining factors such as sensor size, lens features and image processing.
All models in the Find X10 family are expected to come with ColorOS 17 out of the box. This will allow Oppo to show new interface animations and system optimizations with updated hardware. However, a significant part of the information regarding the number of models, screen sizes, battery capacity, processor and camera features of the Find X10 series is still based on pre-launch leaks. Therefore, there may be changes in technical features or the structure of the product family until the event on September 17. What is certain for now is that Oppo will introduce ColorOS 17 based on Android 17 at the same event and will focus on the software side, especially animation fluency, application opening times and background performance.
