LG to unveil first smart home hub ThinQ ON at IFA 2024

LG is preparing to introduce ThinQ ON, the company’s first dedicated smart home hub, at the IFA 2024 tech trade show in Berlin. The device, which was previewed at CES 2024, is at the center of LG’s new smart home strategy and aims to usher in a new era in smart home technologies.

ThinQ ON is designed as a hub that can work with LG’s existing devices as well as smart home products from different brands. Working on LG’s own ThinQ smart home platform, this device allows users to manage their smart home systems more efficiently. One of the device’s standout features is LG’s “Affectionate Intelligence” artificial intelligence technology, which can learn users’ habits, make suggestions accordingly, and manage devices.

ThinQ ON has a rounded and compact design. The device is not only a smart home hub, but also houses LG’s AI-powered voice assistant. This voice assistant can respond to users’ requests with its natural language understanding ability and offers a more personalized experience by learning users’ preferences over time. According to LG, ThinQ ON is designed to have a suitable infrastructure for future updates and expansions.

ThinQ ON’s wide compatibility and connectivity options

ThinQ ON is compatible with many different devices using widely supported connection protocols such as Matter, Thread and Wi-Fi. Matter is a standard developed by technology giants such as Apple, Amazon, Google and Samsung that allows smart home devices to be compatible with each other. This standard allows devices to communicate securely and quickly over a local network without the need for a cloud connection.

LG’s new smart home hub is capable of controlling not only its own devices but also Matter-compatible devices from other manufacturers. This makes it easier for users to manage smart home products from different brands from a single hub. ThinQ ON also integrates with the LG ThinQ app, an app that allows users to monitor and manage their connected devices.

LG aims to become a broader player in the smart home market with this device. Until now, the company’s smart home strategy has focused more on managing its own devices. However, with ThinQ ON, LG aims to create a broader ecosystem in this area. Devices that support new standards, especially Matter, stand out as an important part of this strategy.

ThinQ ON aims to make users’ daily lives smarter and more efficient. In addition to monitoring, controlling and managing connected devices, the device will help users optimize the performance of devices in their homes. LG’s new device also provides a ready-made infrastructure for future expansions and new technologies.

The price and release date of LG’s ThinQ ON, which will be introduced at IFA 2024, have not yet been announced. The company plans to share more details about the device at the show. This new device aims to increase LG’s competitiveness in the smart home market and offer its users a more integrated smart home experience. The innovations that ThinQ ON will bring to smart home technologies and its impact on users are eagerly awaited.
