iPadOS 27 brings higher performance and new Siri to iPads

Apple announced its new operating system version for iPad, iPadOS 27, at the WWDC 2026 event. Building on the comprehensive productivity innovations introduced last year, the update this time stands out with performance improvements and various interface changes that simplify the user experience. The company announced that the developer beta version of the new version will be available starting today, while the public beta version will be released in July. The final version will reach supported iPad models in the fall.

According to the information shared by Apple, iPadOS 27 further improves the Liquid Glass design concept introduced last year. Thanks to the adjustments made to the visual interface, users will be able to customize the system view in more detail. In addition, while it is aimed for animations to run more smoothly in applications and throughout the system, visible improvements are also offered in the general responsiveness of the operating system.

On the other hand, Apple continues to improve the iPad’s multitasking and productivity capabilities. Some functions that have been requested for a long time, especially by professional users, become more accessible with this version. Many changes that seem small in the user experience but can make a difference in daily use also attract attention as part of the update.

iPadOS 27 focuses on performance and user experience

One of the prominent innovations of the update was the ability to optionally keep the menu bar on the screen at all times. This feature will help users access application functions faster, especially those working with external keyboards and large-screen iPad models. In addition, the name of the active application can now be displayed in the status bar. This makes it easier to understand which application is in the foreground during multitasking.

Apple also rearranged the Screen Time system. The new version offers more advanced tools for parents to manage children’s device use. While digital security and age-appropriate content control have become one of the areas that technology companies prioritize in recent years, Apple continues to update its tools in this field.

In addition, the ability to resize applications developed for iPhone on iPad is among the notable innovations. Previously, there were some restrictions in terms of usage due to fixed window sizes. Thanks to the new system, it is aimed to use iPhone applications more efficiently on the iPad screen.

On the artificial intelligence side, Apple announced that it will offer a completely renewed version of Siri with iPadOS 27. Although the company did not share detailed technical details during the event, it is stated that the new Siri will offer more advanced natural language understanding capabilities and more comprehensive system-wide integrations. In addition, the search experience is also updated. Apple states that the new search system, supported by advanced intelligence features, will provide faster results among applications, documents and content.

In addition to all these, improvements on the performance side stand out as one of the main focuses of iPadOS 27. Apple states that the operating system runs faster than the previous version and transitions between applications are smoother. This may be directly reflected in the daily experience, especially for users who multitask, work with creative applications, or use the iPad as a laptop alternative.
