Harsh criticism from Elon Musk to OpenAI and White House agreement

Elon Musk came to the fore once again with his harsh criticism of OpenAI and the massive artificial intelligence agreement announced at the White House. In his statement on the social media platform

Within the scope of the agreement, it was announced that SoftBank, OpenAI, Oracle and MGX would invest $100 billion for an artificial intelligence data center initiative and that this figure would reach $500 billion in four years. However, Musk viewed this announcement with skepticism and stated that SoftBank’s funds on hand were much less than claimed. “SoftBank has less than $10 billion in funds. “I learned this from a reliable source,” Musk said, directly criticizing SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son.

Masayoshi Son previously owned companies such as WeWork and Sprint, and currently runs the Arm company. Recently, it is known that he has been seeking financing for an artificial intelligence chip initiative together with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. Musk’s claims indicate that these searches have not been successful.

Elon Musk and OpenAI tension has been going on for a long time

The long-standing tension between Musk and OpenAI is experienced publicly from time to time. While Musk accuses OpenAI of dragging artificial intelligence technologies in a dangerous direction, OpenAI states that these accusations are malicious and unfounded.

Sam Altman responded to Musk’s criticism about the Stargate Project announced at the White House on social media. Altman, who described Musk as “an inspiring entrepreneur” in his first statement, increased the dose of criticism in a later post and said, “What is good for the country may not always be what is best for companies.”

The Stargate Project, announced at the White House, stands out as a major artificial intelligence and data center initiative that started to be built based in Texas. Technology partners of the project include leading names in the industry such as Arm, Microsoft, Nvidia, Oracle and OpenAI. The companies announced that they are evaluating suitable locations to establish similar facilities in different regions of the USA.

Sam Altman pointed out the size of the project and stated that it reflects the belief in advances in technology. “The scale of this investment is huge,” Altman said in an interview on Fox News. “This shows how hopeful we all are about the advancement of technology,” he said.

Despite Elon Musk’s criticism and skepticism about the Stargate Project, such investments in the field of artificial intelligence reveal the rapid growth of the sector and the intensity of global competition. The effects of this investment on both the US technology sector and global economic competition will be carefully monitored in the coming years.
