GoPro Hero and Hero 13 Black launch date confirmed

GoPro has officially confirmed the launch date of its next-generation action cameras. According to a promotional video shared by the company on its X account, the launch of two new Hero models will take place on September 4. Among the two new models, the GoPro Hero 13 Black model stands out.

This confirmation came with a hands-on review video shared by well-known leaker Igor Bogdanov, who has been on the news with leaks. The video takes a closer look at the design of the GoPro Hero 13 Black.

In the clip, there is a display on the front with “13 BLACK” branding, while the action camera’s camera sensor and a Power/Mode button are located near the cooler.

In terms of specifications, leaks suggest that the Hero 13 Black will feature the same 27MP sensor as its predecessor. Video recording capabilities are also expected to remain largely the same, with the ability to shoot at 5.3K resolution at 60 FPS and 4K resolution at 120 FPS. Other features that will be carried over from the Hero 12 Black include HyperSmooth 6.0 image stabilization and HDR.

This year’s biggest new feature looks set to be a larger 1,900mAh battery, replacing the 1,720mAh battery in the Hero 12 Black. GoPro is also expected to expand its range of action camera accessories, including macro and ultra-wide lens add-ons, a Floaty accessory, and a protective case.

Details of the camera to be introduced with the GoPro Hero 13 Black still remain a mystery

The second GoPro camera model is still a mystery. It is rumored to be the successor to the GoPro 11 Mini and feature HyperSmooth stabilization and slow-motion video recording.

With just two days left until the official launch date, we should have more detailed information about both Hero action cameras, but it is not yet clear whether September 4 will be the actual on-sale date or just a launch day.
