Google rolls out Personal Intelligence feature for Gemini globally

Google has now started to open the Personal Intelligence feature, which it offered to paid subscribers in the USA earlier in the year, to Gemini users globally. This development enables Gemini to transform from an artificial intelligence tool that only provides general information into a more personal assistant that takes user habits and preferences into account. The feature, which was initially offered to a limited audience, is now being rolled out to reach a much wider user base.

Personal Intelligence directly connects Gemini with applications in the Google ecosystem. Thanks to this connection established with services such as Gmail, Google Photos, YouTube, Search, Maps, Calendar and Drive, the system can create more accurate answers by analyzing the user’s existing data. This makes it possible for users to obtain faster and more accurate results without having to provide detailed context for each query.

The impact of this integration is clearly felt in daily use scenarios. For example, when shopping recommendations are requested, Gemini can take into account the user’s past purchases and style preferences. In addition, if support is requested for a device that has been purchased before but whose details are not remembered, a solution can be provided by determining the product model from the invoice records in Gmail. This approach allows artificial intelligence to generate responses based not only on general knowledge but also on personal history.

A similar advantage exists in more complex situations such as travel planning. For short connecting flights, gate information, walking times and meal preferences can be evaluated simultaneously and suggestions can be made. In addition, offering new hobby suggestions based on patterns detected in user behavior is among the notable usage areas.

How does the Google Gemini Personal Intelligence feature work and to whom is it available?

Google emphasizes that this feature is completely under user control. The Personal Intelligence system is activated optionally and which applications are connected is determined by the user. However, the company states that Gemini does not use data from services such as Gmail or Photos directly for model training. The system only references relevant data to generate answers to queries and keeps core content separate from the training process.

On the other hand, Personal Intelligence works with Gemini supported languages on desktop, Android and iOS platforms. The global distribution process has started for Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra subscribers. However, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are excluded from this scope. Free Gemini users are expected to access this feature in the coming weeks.

In addition to all this, Google’s extensive data ecosystem makes this type of personalization approach different from its competitors. While Apple’s artificial intelligence solutions are still in their development phase, Microsoft Copilot offers limited use with productivity tools. In contrast, Google has the advantage of being able to integrate billions of users’ data across different services.
