Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 revealed, its differences with the Pro model were seen

New information about Qualcomm’s next generation Snapdragon 8 series processors continues to emerge. While the latest leaks show that two different models are on the way, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the higher-positioned Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, the technical details of the standard model have also begun to become clear.

According to the information shared by Digital Chat Station, a reliable leak source, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 is referred to with the model number SM8950. It is stated that this chipset will be developed with TSMC’s 2 nm production process. This production technology aims to offer significant gains in terms of both performance and energy efficiency. However, it is stated that the processor will come with the new generation Oryon CPU architecture with 2 + 3 + 3 core layout. Supported by a total of 16 MB shared L2 cache, this structure aims to offer a balanced performance profile, especially in the flagship class.

On the graphics side, the Adreno 845 GPU stands out. It is said that this graphics unit, which is stated to have a six-slice design, will work with 12 MB GMEM and 6 MB system level cache. In addition, there is LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 5.0 storage support. This combination can make it possible to keep costs under control while providing high performance in high-end smartphones. For this reason, it is considered that Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 can be used not only in top-end models but also in a wider range of flagships.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro model will offer more advanced hardware

On the other hand, the same source also points out the differences between the standard model and the Pro variant. While it is stated that Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 offers a more limited structure in terms of cache memory and some peripheral components, it is stated that the Pro model will provide wider opportunities in these areas. According to previous leaks, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, with model number SM8975, will come with LPDDR6 memory support. In addition, a more powerful Adreno 850 GPU and increased cache capacity are among the prominent features of this model.

On the performance side, some claims are noteworthy. Although it is claimed that the new generation processors can theoretically reach 6 GHz, it is said that they can offer a performance increase of around 20 percent compared to the previous generation in real usage scenarios. Despite this, it is stated that the Pro model can reach clock speeds above 5 GHz under certain conditions and will especially target devices in the “Ultra” segment.

The standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 appears to adopt a more balanced approach. This model, which is expected to appeal to a wider range of devices, aims to establish a more stable balance between performance and energy efficiency. This could allow manufacturers to develop competitive devices in different price segments.

All this information has not yet been officially confirmed, but considering Qualcomm’s product positioning strategy in recent years, a structure divided into Standard and Pro is not a surprise. The emerging technical details indicate that the new generation Snapdragon platforms will include significant updates, especially in terms of CPU architecture, graphics performance and memory technologies.
