Google is preparing to develop new AI-powered chatbots based on celebrities and YouTube influencers. This innovative approach will be supported by Google’s large family of language models called Gemini and will attempt to collaborate with celebrities and influencers within this framework.
This initiative by Google was announced by The Information on Monday. Google is working on a new feature that will allow users to create their own chatbots by collaborating with YouTube phenomena as well as celebrities. This feature will enable users to create their own bots by defining their chatbot’s personality and appearance. It is worth noting that Noam Shazeer, one of the co-founders of Character.ai, is a former engineer at Google and one of the creators of the “transformers” technology that makes today’s generative AI technology possible.
It is not yet clear which celebrities or influencers Google will collaborate with. For example, Meta’s chatbots include TikTok star Charli D’Amelio, YouTube sensation Mr. Beast is based on the likes of Snoop Dogg, Tom Brady, and Paris Hilton, while Character.ai’s characters include politicians, philosophers, fictional characters, and even objects like a talking block of cheese. It is stated that Google’s project is managed by Ryan Germick from the Google Doodles team and a team of ten people work.
These chatbots from Google may be offered on a trial basis in Google Labs and may not be widely available. This indicates that the project may be in an experimental stage.
Although Meta’s chatbot projects did not attract as much attention as expected, it is not yet clear why Google took such an initiative. For example, Meta’s chatbot based on Snoop Dogg has only 15,000 followers on Instagram, while the real Snoop Dogg has 87.5 million followers. It is eagerly awaited to see how Google will achieve success with this new chatbot initiative.
In conclusion, Google’s effort to develop AI-powered chatbots with celebrities and YouTube influencers aims to provide an innovative and entertaining user experience, supported by Gemini language models. With this project, Google can open a new page in AI technologies and offer more personalized interactions to its users.
