New mini computers using the AMD Ryzen AI Max + PRO 495 processor are preparing to hit the market with 192 GB LPDDR5X combined memory option. According to Tom’s Hardware, which conveys the information shared by AMD about the Gorgon Halo platform, up to 160 GB of the system memory can be allocated to the Radeon 8065S integrated graphics unit. This structure aims to run large local artificial intelligence models in a single memory pool, unlike small workstations limited by separate graphics card memory. However, the 192 GB option will not be standard with every manufacturer, and prices are expected to approach high-end workstations.
Up to 160 GB of combined memory can be reserved for graphics
Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 carries 16 Zen 5 cores and 32 threads. The integrated Radeon 8065S graphics unit has 40 compute units. In addition, with the NPU, the total artificial intelligence performance of the platform can reach up to 131 TOPS. These values distinguish the processor not only from office mini computers but also from systems that run intense parallel workloads without using an external graphics card.
192 GB memory is provided by eight 24 GB LPDDR5X modules and offers approximately 273 GB/s bandwidth. Thanks to the unified architecture, the processor and graphics unit do not have to constantly copy the same data between separate memory areas. However, bandwidth may be lower than the HBM or GDDR memory of high-end discrete graphics cards. Just because a larger model fits in memory doesn’t always mean it will run faster.
One goal of the new systems is to locally run compressed models carrying hundreds of billions of parameters. Some manufacturers talk about models in the 300 billion parameter class. However, the numerical format of the model, context length, and running software change the actual memory consumption. Additionally, native inference speed depends on how well the graphics cores and memory bandwidth are used by the software rather than the NPU.
AMD positions Gorgon Halo as a refresh of the previous Ryzen AI Max+ 395. While the basic Zen 5 and RDNA 3.5 architectures are preserved, clock speeds can go up to 5.2 GHz. The biggest difference is that the memory ceiling increased from 128 GB to 192 GB. This creates a larger workspace for larger models, high-resolution production jobs and multiple virtual machines.
On the other hand, manufacturers will offer the same processor with different memory and cooling limits. If the compact case limits power consumption under long-term load, it may not provide the same performance as a desktop workstation. Therefore, just looking at the processor name is not enough; Continuous power limit, fan layout, storage connections and software support are also important in the purchasing decision.
Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495-based systems are expected to be more visible in the last quarter of 2026. The 192 GB configuration offers unusually large memory for users developing local AI. When prices and real application tests are announced, it will become clearer how competitive these mini computers are against workstations with discrete graphics cards.
