Gemini can now select and analyze anything on the screen

On the Android side, Google has started to offer a new interface update that will make the Gemini experience more functional to more users. Thanks to the innovation introduced by the company, users can now ask questions directly to Gemini by circling or selecting any text, image or a specific area on the screen. Thus, Gemini and Circle to Search experiences, which Android users have used separately for a long time, become closer to each other.

The new feature first appeared in October last year. At that time, a new button called “Circle to select” was noticed in the tools section on the Gemini skin screen. In November, the “Circle Screen” feature was made available for a limited number of users. Now, according to the information provided by 9to5Google, this innovation has started to reach a wider user base with the 17.20 version of the Google application.

When the Gemini interface is opened, users will now be presented with a new prompt: “Circle anything or ask a question about this screen.” Users can highlight text, photos, or other items on the screen and add them as context to Gemini queries. This approach makes the process of asking quick questions more practical, especially regarding specific content on the screen.

The change made by Google is not limited to the selection interface. The company also added resizing handles for more precise editing of the selected area. Thus, users can more easily determine exactly which section Gemini will focus on. In addition, Gemini’s existing annotation and marking tools continue to be used after the screenshot is selected. Users can submit their queries after completing the process of taking notes on the screenshot or highlighting certain areas.

Google Gemini makes screen content sharing more visible

Another notable change in the released update was the new “Screen content” shortcut added to Gemini’s plus menu. This option allows the current screen content to be manually added to the Gemini prompt. Previously, Gemini could automatically interpret the screen context in some cases. However, this newly added tool allows users to manage what content is shared in a more clear and controlled manner.

Recently, Google continues to integrate Gemini more deeply into the Android operating system. The Circle to Search feature was highly preferred by users, especially for visual search and fast interaction with on-screen content. Gemini’s approach to this experience could make using an AI-powered assistant more natural. On the other hand, it will be clearer in the coming period how much the new system will change user habits and how quickly it will spread to all Android devices.
