New technical details have emerged about Xiaomi’s new flagship model, Xiaomi 18, which has not yet become official. According to the information shared by Digital Chat Station, one of the reliable leak sources, the engineering prototype of the device is being tested with a 7,200 mAh capacity battery. This value means a limited increase compared to the 7,000 mAh battery stated in Xiaomi 17. Despite this, the capacity in question is at a remarkable level for a smartphone that is expected to be positioned in the compact class.
Previously shared claims also indicated that Xiaomi 18 would have a larger battery than its predecessor. With the latest leak, a concrete value regarding battery capacity has come to the fore for the first time. Although models with batteries reaching 8,000 mAh or even 10,000 mAh have recently begun to be seen, most of these devices come with larger body structures. It is stated that Xiaomi aims to offer high battery capacity in a more compact design.
Xiaomi 18 can offer high-end hardware while maintaining its compact design
According to leaks, Xiaomi 18 will come with a 2K resolution screen of approximately 6.4 inches. While it is stated that there will be very thin and symmetrical frames on all four sides of the screen, it is claimed that SuperPixel screen technology will also be used. In this way, the device is aimed to maintain its ease of use in the hand and offer top segment image quality.
On the processor side, it is claimed that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 platform developed by Qualcomm with a 2 nanometer production process will be used. The same chipset is expected to be included in the Pro model. Thus, it is stated that Xiaomi 18 will be one of the limited number of models that offer the new generation flagship processor in a compact body.
It seems that important changes have been made on the camera side as well. It is stated that the device will have a 200 megapixel resolution camera system supported by large sensors. In addition, it is claimed that the standard Xiaomi series will include a periscope telephoto camera that offers 3 times optical zoom for the first time. Until now, this hardware was only available on Pro models. Leaks also show that an ultrasonic under-screen fingerprint reader and a body structure that provides full water resistance will be among the technical features.
On the charging side, no changes are expected compared to the previous generation. It is stated that Xiaomi 18 will maintain 100 W wired fast charging support, while wireless charging support will continue to be offered. This approach indicates that the company prefers to maintain its existing fast charging infrastructure while increasing battery capacity.
On the other hand, it is also claimed that the rear screen design, which was previously associated with the Pro series, will not be included in the standard Xiaomi 18 model. While it is stated that this feature will remain exclusive to the Pro family, it is stated that Xiaomi will continue to maintain the hardware differences between the standard model and the high-end versions.
According to current claims, the Xiaomi 18 series is expected to be introduced in September. It is also said that the launch date may be brought forward a few weeks compared to last year. Considering that Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 18 Pro series in the same period, it seems likely that competition in the high-end smartphone market will intensify again in the autumn months. No official confirmation has been made by Xiaomi yet. For this reason, it is useful to consider the possibility that the shared technical specifications may change until the introduction.
