Xiaomi’s new generation foldable phone came to the fore with leaked images before the official launch. It is claimed that the shared photos show an engineering prototype of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 model. Leaks not only give the first clues about the design of the device, but also reveal important details on the software side. According to the information in the images, the phone runs on Android 17 based HyperOS 4 version. Although the company has not yet made an official statement about this model, recent developments indicate that the introduction may not be far away.
The fact that the software version number seen in the photos starts with 4.0 seems to be compatible with Xiaomi’s approach of introducing the new generation of HyperOS along with the new Android version. In addition, the code name “lhasa”, stated in the system information of the device, was previously associated with Mix Fold 5. For this reason, it is considered that the leaked device may actually be a test unit of the new foldable model. However, not all of the information in question has received official confirmation.
Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 may come with a wider body structure and Xring O3 processor
The fact that the device recently went through the certification process in China also strengthened the expectations regarding the launch date. Various sources suggest that Xiaomi may announce its new foldable model in August 2026. On the other hand, while it is said that the Xiaomi 18 series, which the company is expected to introduce in the same period, will wait for Qualcomm’s new flagship platform, Mix Fold 5 is expected to follow a different path. Allegedly, Xiaomi’s own developed Xring O3 processor will be used in the model. Thus, the company can aim to bring its own chip design to a wider product group in the upper segment.
On the design side, it is stated that Xiaomi will move away from the long body structure preferred in previous Mix Fold models. Leaks suggest that it will move to a form factor that is larger and feels more compact when closed. While the foldable internal screen is expected to be 7.5 to 7.6 inches in size, it is also stated that the screen fold will be less noticeable compared to previous generations. Considering that efforts to reduce screen wrinkles on foldable phones have accelerated in recent years, it will not be surprising for Xiaomi to make various improvements in this field.
Expectations regarding hardware features also attract attention. Allegedly, there will be a main camera with a resolution of 200 megapixels on the back of the device. In addition, features such as a 6,000 mAh capacity battery, wireless charging support, full water resistance and a side-positioned fingerprint reader are among the details discussed. In another previously shared leak, it was claimed that a horizontally placed camera module bearing the Leica brand would be included.
Regarding the price, a tag of approximately 10,000 yuan is on the agenda for the Chinese market. This figure corresponds to approximately 70 thousand TL at the current exchange rate.
