China-based technology manufacturer Xiaomi is gradually increasing its power in the electric vehicle market. Xiaomi EV, the company’s electric vehicle unit, renewed its record by delivering 48,654 vehicles as of October 2025. This success is notable as Xiaomi made over 40 thousand deliveries for the second consecutive month. With the results of October, the company is very close to the monthly delivery limit of 50 thousand. The main driving force behind this success was Xiaomi’s first electric SUV model, YU7.
Positioned as a direct competitor to Tesla Model Y, this model has continued to attract great interest since the day it was introduced to the market. YU7, which constituted approximately 69.19 percent of total deliveries in October, reached a sales figure of 33,662 units. Thus, the YU7 model has become the most preferred vehicle in the Xiaomi EV portfolio.
Prioritizing Xiaomi YU7 production affected SU7 deliveries
This impressive result was made possible by re-planning the production capacity. With increasing demand, Xiaomi EV decided to allocate a large part of its production lines to the YU7 model. In line with this decision, YU7 deliveries, which were 22,369 units in September, increased by 50.49 percent in October. YU7, which the company launched on June 26, gained a remarkable momentum by reaching a total of 80,855 deliveries in its fifth month.
In contrast, the change in production planning negatively affected Xiaomi’s SU7 sedan series. The sedan lineup, consisting of the standard SU7 and SU7 Ultra models, experienced a 23.43 percent drop in October compared to the previous month, with 14,992 deliveries. However, the main reason for this decline is not lack of demand; production capacity was shifted to the SUV model. This situation, which can be defined as a production bottleneck, is considered a classic example where demand exceeds supply.
However, it is stated that user interest remains at high levels for both models. When Chinese consumers order the SU7 sedan today, they have to wait approximately 26 weeks to receive their vehicles. For YU7, this period varies between 32 and 38 weeks. This shows that there is strong demand in the company’s product range. After the delivery period of the SU7 model started in April 2024, total sales for the January-October period reached 234,521 units.
Looking at the overall picture of the year, it is clearly seen that Xiaomi EV’s production and sales strategy has been met. The company, which delivered a total of 315,376 vehicles in the January-October 2025 period, is close to the target of 350 thousand units it set for the end of the year. Xiaomi EV, which made approximately 49 thousand deliveries in October alone, is expected to exceed this target by the end of November.
