With Game Mode, the gaming experience on iPhone will become faster and more responsive.

Apple will introduce the Game Mode feature it prepared for iPhone with iOS 18. The announcement of this new feature was made during the keynote speech of WWDC 2024.

According to Apple software lead Craig Federighi, when Game Mode is on, your device will minimize background activity to maximize frame rates and be better responsive with AirPods and game controllers.

Apple added a similar Game Mode to macOS as part of macOS Sonoma last year. However, this requires you to have a Mac with Apple Silicon.

Apple will encourage playing high-quality games with iPhone Game Mode

The addition of Game Mode to iOS is just the latest step in Apple's effort to encourage people to play high-quality games on their iPhones. There's a growing library of great games to play, like Assassin's Creed Mirage and Resident Evil Village. Capcom also announced that Resident Evil 7 will be coming to iOS (and iPads and Macs) next month, and that a remake of Resident Evil 2 is in development for Apple platforms.
