Microsoft adds a new feature to its artificial intelligence -supported Copilot assistant, which it continues to develop for Windows 11 operating system. According to the announcement on the company’s official blog page, the voice access feature, which works with the “Hey Copilot” command, was opened to the use of certain Windows Insider users. This innovation makes users interact with Copilot more practical and directly. The fact that Copilot can only start only from the application or certain shortcuts increases the importance of this feature.
The new feature comes with the updated user interface called Copilot Voice. When users activate the voice command manually from the application settings, a floating interface appears on the taskbar with a microphone icon. This interface shows that the system is ready to listen to the user’s voice commands. When the “Hey Copilot” command is heard, it seems that the system has started listening with a short statement of notification.
This feature, which can only be used on computers with English system language, currently works only in 1,25051.10.0 or more of Copilot. Microsoft says that this update will gradually be available to Insider users around the world. For users in Türkiye, this means that the feature is not yet accessible. However, such features are expected to expand with more language support in the future.
Microsoft is trying to reshape the digital assistant experience
The new voice command system works thanks to a “Waking word sensor çalışan that works entirely on the device. The system uses a 10 -second sound Arabelle to recognize the voice command. According to Microsoft’s statement, this sound data is neither sent to the cloud nor recorded locally on the device. Thus, concerns about user privacy are minimized.
Although the “Hey Copilot” command can be recognized in offline, an internet connection is required to fulfill its functions. This shows that the demands initiated by voice command are resolved by cloud -based processing power. Since the artificial intelligence engines on the basis of Copilot are still working through cloud services, the system is limited in offline mode. In addition, even the main access to the main access is a remarkable step in terms of user experience.
Microsoft aims to provide a more natural and intuitive experience to its users together. This voice access feature, which has existed for years in competing systems such as Siri, Alexa and Google Assistant, can strengthen the position of Copilot, although it is late in the Microsoft ecosystem. The company had previously made a similar essay with Cortana, but this system could not create the desired effect. Copilot is trying to fill this gap with both visual and text -based support.
On the other hand, Microsoft’s step reflecting the effort to bring Copilot to a wider digital assistant identity by removing Copilot only from being a productivity tool. Especially in the desktop environment, considering the free use scenarios in the desktop environment, artificial intelligence assistants working in the sound can provide significant advantages. It is considered an important threshold in this sense that users can only command by saying “Hey Copilot”. In any case, the integration of this system into daily use will be clarified over time.
Copilot’s voice access feature is offered free of charge. However, this does not change the fact that the system is only opened in English language and to specific test users. With the support of Turkish language, it is not yet announced when this feature will be presented to the Turkish market. In addition, the experience of local users will continue to remain as a matter of curiosity when the feature comes.
This new system, where Microsoft supports voice access support, can contribute to the access of Copilot to wider audiences in the future. Especially in hybrid working environments, voice assistant support can accelerate workflows and convert user habits. However, in order for such features to be sustainable, not only technological competence, but also elements such as language, culture and privacy should be taken into consideration.
