Using ChatGPT no longer requires an account

Subscribe to Teknoblog content on Google News:

OpenAI announces that its artificial intelligence platform ChatGPT can now be accessed without requiring a user account explained. This change only applies to ChatGPT, and creating a user account will continue to be required to access other OpenAI products such as DALL-E 3. In the statement made by OpenAI, “We are gradually implementing this change. “Our goal is to facilitate access for anyone who is curious about the capabilities of artificial intelligence.”

Since ChatGPT launched in late 2022, interested users had to create an OpenAI account. The chatbot quickly gained popularity, making ChatGPT one of the fastest growing services ever. The company later added paid subscriptions for access to products like DALL-E 3. Users will need an account to save and review chat history, share chats, and have voice conversations.

What is the popularity of ChatGPT?

OpenAI stated that 100 million people a week from 185 countries around the world use ChatGPT. ChatGPT is still the most visited AI chatbot site, with an estimated 1.6 billion visitors in February, according to findings from traffic tracker SimilarWeb. Although Google's Gemini AI robot is starting to gain momentum, ChatGPT's traffic has fallen slightly from its estimated peak of 1.8 billion visits in May 2023.

OpenAI announced that it has introduced additional content security measures for this new experience, blocking requests from a wider range of categories. However, it did not provide further information about these categories. The option to exit model training will continue to be offered to users who do not have an account. ChatGPT users will be able to choose whether their ChatGPT activities will be used to train OpenAI's AI models.

Meanwhile, OpenAI's other products, including the newly announced AI voice cloning service Voice Engine and video creation platform Sora, remain accessible to a limited audience of users and partners and are not included in the benefits of having an OpenAI account.

This move by OpenAI is seen as one of its steps towards presenting the capabilities of artificial intelligence to a wider audience. The availability of ChatGPT without requiring an account could make it easier for users to interact with artificial intelligence and increase interest in OpenAI's other products. With the increasing adoption of artificial intelligence applications in the technology world, this innovation from OpenAI can further deepen the interaction between users and artificial intelligence.
