Samsung, mobile segment leader TM Roh He announced that he was appointed as co-CEO. This decision constituted the new step of the management system carried out in the company’s DX unit.
With this change, TM Roh will lead the DX unit, which extends from phones to home devices. This mission aims to advance the home electronics field more smoothly under one roof with the mobile product family. In addition, the company made clear separations of duties to make decision processes on the mobile and device sides faster. However, this step does not affect the current structure of the DS division and component production continues under separate leadership. In addition to all these, TM Roh’s many years of mobile experience makes the workflow carried out in the DX unit more understandable.
With this step, the single CEO structure that was formed after the death of Han Jong-hee has returned to the two-leader model. The fact that the DX unit accommodates a wide range of products such as phones, tablets and home electronics made the decision processes more intense. In addition, the company moved to address two different requirements more clearly by separating the production and device sides. However, this distinction does not create a sudden change in product development plans and the schedules continue as normal. In addition to all this, in the new arrangement, the DS unit continues to focus on memory products and processor work.
Samsung’s management change regulates the operation on the device side
Following this step, titles such as phones, wearable products and home electronics were brought together under a single direction in the DX unit. Since wide product diversity affects the speed of decision-making, this regulation will contribute to the simpler processes. In addition, the different production requirements of the DS unit were one of the factors supporting this distinction. However, this change did not cause a disruption in the current production schedule. However, a clearer distribution of tasks between product groups on the DX side made the internal functioning more understandable.
The statements made by the company showed that products in the field of consumer electronics continue to be developed in line with the determined program. Work in the mobile section continues according to planned dates. In addition, due to the wide product family in the DX unit, it was deemed necessary to update the management system. However, this update does not mean a new staff reduction within the institution. In addition to all this, the DS side’s focus on component production made the distinction between the two units more evident.
