TikTok has announced that group chats, which it says are one of the most requested features by its users, are finally available. Although the feature is not yet available to all users, those who can access it will be able to create chat groups of up to 32 people on TikTok.
There are several ways to start a group chat. The first step is to tap the Chat button at the top of the screen from the inbox or a name in the message list and then tap “More options…”. Then, select the people to include in the chat and tap “Start group chat” to open the chat screen.
Another way to start a group chat is to share a post with a group of people. When you have a video that you want to chat with more than one person, tap the Share button, then select “Create group chat.” Select the friends you want to send it to, add a message if you want, and then you can start chatting with your friends about the video.
You can accept any group chat invite you receive through your inbox. You can only invite people you mutually follow to a group chat. As with regular DMs, group chats are not available to users ages 13 to 15. For 16 and 17-year-olds, they can only join a group chat if they have at least one mutual friend there. If they create a group chat, they will need to review and manually approve everyone who joins.
TikTok adds stickers to messages
Another innovation that TikTok has brought to messages is stickers, which will provide another way for users to interact with each other visually.
