TikTok has launched a new feature, the “bulletin board,” that allows content creators to communicate more directly with their followers. Thanks to this feature, content creators who reach a certain number of followers will be able to send their mass announcements directly to their followers’ TikTok inboxes. This structure, which works similar to the broadcast channels on Instagram or the one-way messaging system on Telegram, allows content producers to convey their messages more effectively.
Users who choose to join the bulletin board will see updates sent by the creator directly in their inbox within TikTok. These updates; It can be in the form of written text, links, surveys, photos or other TikTok content (video or live broadcast).
TikTok believes the feature will be eye-catching for artists
Followers will only be able to express their reactions with emojis; Interactions such as commenting or responding will not be supported. According to TikTok’s statement, this feature may be particularly notable for musicians and artists. Artists will be able to announce their new music through this channel and allow listeners to pre-save upcoming content.
In traditional TikTok posts, it is not always guaranteed that content creators will be visible to the algorithm. But the bulletin board system allows these producers to establish more reliable and direct communication with their followers. Especially users with more than 50 thousand followers have the chance to deliver their content to their loyal fans without getting stuck in the algorithm. This saves time and makes it possible to communicate more regularly without getting lost in busy inboxes.
In addition, content producers can easily share their links outside of TikTok, thanks to the bulletin board. For example, a musician can deliver his new video clip on YouTube or album pre-recording on Spotify directly to his fans. In this respect, the system becomes functional not only within TikTok but also in terms of directing traffic to external platforms. However, the one-way nature of these messages eliminates the possibility of real-time dialogue with the follower.
The bulletin board feature is currently open to TikTok users who are over 18 years old and have at least 50 thousand followers. Followers will be able to see these boards directly on the profiles of the content creators and join the boards of their choice.
TikTok has recently been developing various tools to ensure that content producers stay on the platform longer and increase production motivation. Following many systems, from live broadcasts to content creator funds, the bulletin board feature has become the new component of this ecosystem. TikTok is expected to diversify similar tools to increase content creators’ control over the platform in the coming period. However, for these features to be effective, it is critical that users actively use such interaction channels.
