Tiktok develops desktop experience with new features

While Tiktok’s future in the United States remained uncertain, ByTedance’s platform has taken important steps to improve the desktop experience. With the new update, the re -positioned navigation bar, the Discover tab, the floating player for Chrome, and especially in the horizontal format that can attract the attention of Twitch, live game broadcast support was started to be presented to Tiktok users.

Previously Tiktok’s web interface contained a search bar on the top of the screen and various connections on the left side with shortcuts. With the new update, all these items were joined in a vertical navigation bar on the left. This change aims to ensure that users have a more immersive experience by moving away from distracting elements. Tiktok seems to have developed the desktop version in this direction in order to compete more directly with platforms like Youtube and Twitch.

One of Tiktok’s most remarkable innovations was to support horizontal and full -screen game broadcasts. Previously, only live broadcast in vertical format, or Tiktok had to apply Live Studio for horizontal format. With the new update, desktop users will be able to watch game broadcasts directly in horizontal format. Mobile users will be able to switch to a wide screen view by rotating their devices. This innovation is considered as an important step for Tiktok, which wants to compete with platforms such as Twitch.

However, Tiktok’s new floating player for Chrome allows users to keep the platform visible on other windows. This feature can only be used in the Google Chrome browser and allows users to keep track of content even when you are navigating on different tabs.

Tiktok added collections feature to the desktop version

Another innovation added to the desktop version of Tiktok was the collections that work similar to the playlists on Youtube. With this feature, users will be able to easily access their favorite videos in customizable categories.

In addition, the “Special” flow in Tiktok’s mobile application and proposing content according to the interests of users is now in the desktop version. In addition, the Discovery tab, which shows popular content and trends, moved to the desktop and offered a more comprehensive content discovery experience.

These updates for Tiktok’s desktop browser version are presented to all users on a global scale. With these changes, the platform aims to offer a more advanced experience to desktop users, not only a mobile -oriented application.
