The future of Tiktok in the USA remains uncertainty: the Ministry of Justice has provided legal assurance to Apple and Google

For Tiktok, his future in the United States is still unclear. Although the application is not technically banned, the temporary decisions taken at the beginning of 2025 made serious pressure on technology companies. In particular, the process of re -adding Tiktok to the stores of Giants such as Apple and Google took longer than expected. In this process, behind the scenes, the official correspondence opened to the public began to be understood more clearly.

Tiktok was closed to access for a short time shortly before President Donald Trump took off. But only a few hours later, the application was reused on January 19, 2025. However, Apple and Google waited until February 13th to offer the app again via the App Store and Play Store. The reason for this delay was the legal risks that a law against foreign practices planned to be enacted.

Apple and Google was given clear legal assurance by the US Department of Justice for Tiktok

According to Axios and other sources in February, the Ministry of Justice assured technology companies that there would be no criminal responsibility. The details of this information were confirmed by the official application of the software engineer Tony Tan, a Google shareholder. The letters published as a result of the application of the Freedom of Freedom of Information made by Tan were sent to companies such as Apple, Google, Amazon and Oracle. In the correspondence, the Minister of Justice Pam Bondi clearly puts the legal framework clearly.

In a letter dated January 30, 2025, Bondi said that the sudden closure of the President Tiktok would prevent his constitutional obligations. For this reason, it was stated that there was no legal obstacle for companies such as Apple and Google to continue to serve Tiktok. In the same letter, it was clearly emphasized that companies would not encounter any criminal sanctions. These statements meant serious relief for technology companies.

In the second article dated April 5, 2025, this assurance was expanded further. The article was sent to Tiktok’s 75 -day recognition of a new period of 75 days. The article said that the US government will not put any criminal right to the past. This includes not only for Tiktok, but also other applications under the roof of BYTEDANCE.

All these correspondence clearly demonstrates why platforms like Apple and Google are shy. Although the application has been re -included, companies have expected clarity as to whether they have carried responsibility for the law for a long time. The written assurance given by the Ministry of Justice seems to have significantly eliminated this indecision. But the main issue that the public wonders is whether Tiktok will be permanent in the country in the long run.

Tiktok’s situation in the US continues to remain on the agenda not only technological but also a diplomatic issue. President Trump said in a statement this week that the details of Tiktok’s new ownership structure will be announced to the public within two weeks. This indicates that a new process can begin to shape the future of the practice. In spite of everything, both users and the sector are waiting for the announcement of the final decision.

Another remarkable element in this process was the approach of the Ministry of Justice. The ministry gave companies not only verbally, but also in writing legal immunity. This attitude alleviated the uncertainties in the technology sector temporarily. But Tiktok’s future in America is still not finalized.

Tiktok’s fate is as important as to how the decisions to be taken in this process will form a precedent in the technology sector. In particular, it is a matter of curiosity how to implement the legal framework developed against practices under the control of foreign companies. This process in Tiktok shows that similar practices may face similar legal problems in the future.
