Surprise name change in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series is on the agenda

A remarkable name change claim has come to the fore regarding the new foldable phones that Samsung will introduce at the Unpacked event, which is expected to be held in July. It is stated that the models, which were previously suggested to be named Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Wide, may be available under different names. According to Ice Universe, known for its leaks, Samsung may launch the model, which is called “Wide Fold” in the current planning, directly as Galaxy Z Fold 8. It is rumored that the standard model may be called Z Fold 8 Ultra.

The emerging information shows that Samsung may take a different approach to product positioning. So far, it has been claimed that the “Wide Fold” model will offer a larger screen experience and have a wider body structure compared to the standard model. However, on the technical features side, it is said that the standard model will come with more powerful equipment. Therefore, it seems reasonable to a certain extent that the company gave the name “Ultra” to the model with more advanced features.

According to new claims, the Z Fold 8 Wide model will feature a dual rear camera system and a 4,800 mAh battery. On the other hand, it is stated that the model, which is expected to be called Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, will come with a triple rear camera system. In addition, it is among the spoken details that the device will have a 5,000 mAh battery. Considering such a hardware difference, it does not seem surprising that Samsung reserved the “Ultra” brand for the higher-end model.

However, the possible change in naming may be confusing for users at first. Because it seems likely that many people who see the name “Galaxy Z Fold 8” will think that this is a direct sequel to the Galaxy Z Fold 7. However, current leaks show that the model, which may be called Galaxy Z Fold 8, may have a different positioning. On the other hand, the “Ultra” tag naturally raises user expectations.

According to the information contained in the leaks, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra model may offer not only larger battery capacity but also faster wired charging support. In addition, it is claimed that Samsung will use a 50-megapixel resolution ultra-wide-angle camera in this model. This change may be remarkable, considering that the company has kept foldable models behind the flagship Galaxy S Ultra series on the camera side in recent years. However, the official specifications of the devices have not been confirmed yet.

It is stated that Samsung will introduce its new foldable phones at the Galaxy Unpacked event, which is expected to be held in London on July 22. New leaks are expected to emerge approximately two months before the event. As the differences in naming and hardware become clearer, it will become clearer how Samsung will position its foldable phone series this year.
