In his email to employees, Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced that the company will launch new artificial intelligence (AI) products and features in the next few months. In the email seen by 9to5Google, Pichai did not share details of these innovations but emphasized that “the progress that has been made is extraordinary.”
In his message, Pichai stated that Google completed 2024 strongly. He stated that in addition to innovations such as Gemini 2.0, Willow and Veo 2, there have been significant developments in areas such as Search, YouTube, Cloud, Android and Pixel. He also said this success was based on Google’s technical and artificial intelligence leadership and “full-stack approach.”
Pichai stated that he reviewed the demos of the new products and features they are working on at the beginning of 2025, and stated that these projects are gaining rapid momentum. On the other hand, Google started testing a new feature called “Daily Listen” within the scope of Search Labs. This feature offers a personalized podcast service that includes topics and news that interest users.
In December, Google announced that Gemini 2.0 Flash would be publicly available for developers in January. However, it is also expected that the “Experimental” label in the Gemini application will be removed and the 2.0 Experimental Advanced version will be offered to paying subscribers.
Google also plans to roll out the feature called “NotebookLM Plus” to Google One subscribers in early 2025. On a broader scale, Gemini 2.0 is aimed to be further integrated into the Search platform with features such as AI Overviews.
The “next few months” statement that Pichai mentioned coincides with the I/O event that Google usually organizes at the beginning of May. At this event, artificial intelligence and other innovations are expected to be announced.
