PS5 Pro promises high graphics quality

Sony’s PS5 Pro, which was announced on September 10 with a price tag of $700, attracted attention. This price, even when inflation is taken into account, stands out as one of the most expensive consoles in PlayStation history. The disk drive in the next-generation PS5 Pro will be sold separately as an option. After the first statements, some users started discussing the price and innovations, and joked about whether the graphical differences were visible.

But while it wasn’t clearly demonstrated in Sony’s initial YouTube livestream, the PS5 Pro does appear to offer noticeable graphical improvements, particularly in games that were somewhat limited on the original PS5, such as Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Sony’s patched games specifically for PS5 Pro means gamers won’t have to choose between high frame rates and detailed graphics. The PS5 Pro’s increased processing power and AI-powered “PSSR” upscaling technology will allow the high-resolution and high-frame-rate modes of the original PS5 to be delivered simultaneously.

Sony hasn’t yet given specifics on what resolutions and frame rates these games will run at, but the company estimates that 40-50 games will be patched for the PS5 Pro by the time the PS5 Pro launches. The PS5 Pro will also support unpatched PS4 and PS5 games, some of which will run faster with “Boost Mode.”
