Leaks regarding Samsung’s new foldable phones continue to increase. While price information for the European market was on the agenda last week, this time the South Korean prices of the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra models were shared. If the information in question turns out to be correct, a clearer picture will emerge about what kind of pricing strategy Samsung will follow in different markets.
According to the news shared by Bloter, Samsung will introduce its new foldable phones at an event to be held in London, the capital of England, on July 22, 2026. According to the information obtained from mobile operators in South Korea, the starting price of Galaxy Z Flip 8 was determined as 1,683,000 South Korean won. It is stated that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will be offered for sale with a starting price of 2,278,000 won and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will be available with a starting price of 2,577,000 won. At the current exchange rate, these figures correspond to approximately 51,460 TL, 70,190 TL and 78,760 TL, respectively.
South Korean prices appear lower than Europe
The resulting figures are significantly below the previously leaked prices for Europe. However, direct comparison of prices in two regions can be misleading. Because it is considered that the prices shared in South Korea may be promotional sales prices offered by mobile operators with long-term subscription contracts. It is expected that the difference between the two markets will be clearer when the official sales prices are announced.
According to the leak, Samsung will carry out the pre-order process in South Korea between July 28 and August 3, 2026. It is planned that users who pre-ordered will start receiving their devices on August 4. General sales are expected to start on August 7, 2026. Thus, there will be a preparation period of approximately two weeks between the promotional event and the sales process.
The shared prices contain remarkable differences compared to the previous generation. It is stated that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will have a starting price of approximately 197,700 won higher than the launch price of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. In contrast, it is stated that the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 can carry a price tag of approximately 101,300 won lower than its predecessor. On the Galaxy Z Flip 8 side, there is a price increase of approximately 198,000 won. This table indicates that Samsung may follow a different pricing policy for different models.
One of the most important reasons behind price changes is the increase in the cost of memory components. There has been a significant increase in DRAM and NAND flash memory prices in the last year. According to industry data, in the first quarter of 2025, the cost share of memory components in a smartphone worth approximately $ 800 was 14 percent. This rate increased to 40 percent in the third quarter of 2026. This increase in memory costs directly affects production costs, especially in upper segment smartphones.
In addition, foldable screens, advanced hinge systems and high-capacity memory options are among other factors that increase production costs. Since smartphone manufacturers have difficulty in covering the rising component costs entirely within their own bodies, it seems inevitable that these increases will be reflected in end-user prices to a certain extent. However, the final pricing of Samsung’s new foldable models and the sales policy to be applied according to regions will become official at the company’s promotional event on July 22.
