It is stated that Huawei is preparing to expand its foldable phone series with new models in the second half of the year. Although the company has not made an official statement yet, the latest information from China indicates that both the new triple-foldable model and the foldable phone in book form may come with remarkable innovations in performance, camera and battery. Although the device names are not openly shared in the leak, the models in question are expected to be Huawei Mate XT 2 and Mate X9.
According to information provided by Digital Chat Station, known for its posts on Weibo, Huawei plans to launch two different foldable phones in the second half of the year. One of these will be a new generation model that continues the tri-foldable design, while the other will be a traditional book-type foldable phone. According to the source, both devices will be powered by the new generation Kirin flagship processors.
The new Kirin 9050 processor may be introduced with Huawei Mate XT 2
According to the leak, it is on the agenda for Huawei to skip the previously expected Kirin 9030 series and switch directly to the Kirin 9050 family. While it is stated that this chipset can be offered in two different versions, standard and Pro, the Mate XT 2 model is expected to be introduced with the Kirin 9050 Pro processor. In addition, it is also stated that the device may come out of the box with the HarmonyOS 7 operating system.
Previously revealed information suggested that Kirin 9050 could adopt dual-layer vertical logic architecture. This design is aimed to increase process performance and energy efficiency without the need for a more advanced production process. Considering the restrictions that Huawei has experienced in the semiconductor field due to US sanctions in recent years, improvements to be made at the architectural level are also noteworthy for the company.
It is stated that the book-type foldable model will have an internal screen of approximately 8.15 inches and a cover screen of 6.5 inches. It is stated that in the new triple-folding model, various improvements will be made in the hinge system and folding mechanism while maintaining the current design. Thus, it is aimed to improve both durability and usage experience.
Significant changes are also on the agenda on the camera side. According to the same source, Huawei’s new foldable phones may come with a 1/1.3 inch main camera sensor. In addition, it is claimed that a periscope telephoto camera and a more compact camera module will be used. The combination of a large sensor and a periscope telephoto camera can offer better photographic performance, especially in low light conditions and at long focal lengths.
An increase in battery capacity is also expected compared to the previous generation. According to the leak, batteries with capacities starting from 6 will be used in the devices. This statement indicates that the phones may come with a battery capacity of over 6,000 mAh. Considering the energy consumption of large screens in foldable phones, higher capacity batteries can positively affect daily usage time.
On the pricing side, it is stated that both models will be positioned at approximately 10,000 yuan. This corresponds to approximately 69 thousand TL at the current exchange rate. Previously shared information showed that the triple-foldable model could be offered for sale in different color options: Mysterious Black, Lucky Red, Red Purple and Bright White.
Huawei has not yet announced an official launch date for its new foldable phones. Despite this, if the current leaks are true, the company is expected to announce its new generation foldable models at an event in September. Technical specifications and price information have not been finalized until the official announcement. For this reason, the information revealed should be considered as an allegation for now.
