Samsung’s tri-foldable phone comes with a three-battery structure

The tri-foldable phone project, which Samsung has been working on for a long time, is preparing to reshape the understanding of mobile devices. While expanding its foldable product range, the South Korean manufacturer adopts a more durable, more efficient and more balanced design approach. Although the launch date has not been determined yet, the company is expected to introduce its model called Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold within the year. This device will differ from existing foldable phones not only in its design aspect but also in its energy management.

The patent document, which appeared in the South Korean Intellectual Property Rights Information Service (KIPRIS) database, clearly shows that Samsung uses three separate battery cells in this model. In the drawings in the document, it can be seen that the device consists of three parts and each part has its own energy source. This structure aims to both keep the balance point of the device constant and distribute power consumption in a more controlled manner. In addition, the location of each battery is determined according to the usage scenario of the device. It appears that the smallest battery is placed in the section housing the camera module, the medium-sized battery is placed in the outer display section, and the largest battery is placed in the middle segment.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold redefines energy management with its three-segment battery structure

This three-part design approach of Samsung provides a practical solution to the energy imbalance problem experienced in foldable phones. The fact that each segment carries its own battery ensures that the device operates more stable and does not experience any decrease in performance during long-term use. However, special software optimization is required for the triple battery system to operate synchronously. The energy management software developed by the company in this regard dynamically controls the transition between batteries. Thus, the device can direct energy in the most efficient way according to usage conditions.

This design approach suggests that it will go beyond the 4,400 mAh capacity and 25W charging speed of the Galaxy Z Fold7. While users expect longer battery life and faster charging support, it is said that Samsung will test new generation battery technologies with this model. However, the document does not contain clear data about capacity and charging speed. However, considering the investments the company has made in battery technology in recent years, it is estimated that this deficiency will be eliminated in a short time. Despite everything, it seems possible that Galaxy Z TriFold will set a new reference point in energy efficiency with this structure.

There are also different rumors about the regions where Galaxy Z TriFold will be launched. At the first stage, it was claimed that it would be a special model for the South Korean and Chinese markets. However, recent reports indicate that the device may also be available for sale in the USA. If this happens, Samsung’s strategy of bringing its foldable products to a wider user base in the global market will gain strength. In addition, it is thought that the timing of the global launch will coincide with the last quarter of the year.

Despite these claims, Samsung has not made an official statement about the TriFold model. The company’s silence is considered a conscious choice to protect the design details of the device. In addition, the preparations made in the supply chain before the introduction of the device are also noteworthy. It is known that battery suppliers have increased their production capacity and the durability of the hinge mechanism is in the testing phase. This shows that Samsung intends to present the TriFold model as a mature product.

One of the highlights of the Galaxy Z TriFold will be the flexibility it offers in terms of usage. Its triple folding structure allows users to use the device as a phone, mini tablet or desktop screen. These transitions will offer a more fluid experience thanks to the special hinge system developed by Samsung. In addition to all these, it is stated that a special algorithm has been developed to manage screen transitions in balance with energy consumption.

In this model, it is anticipated that there will be innovations on the software side as well. It is claimed that Samsung is working on a multitasking scheme specific to the TriFold model in the One UI interface. This layout aims to provide a more efficient experience, especially for productivity-oriented users. In addition, it is thought that battery distribution and power saving settings will be handled differently in this model. In this way, users will be able to directly monitor how much energy is consumed in which segment of the device.

Despite everything, Galaxy Z TriFold will not only be a technical innovation, but also a product that will push Samsung’s limits in terms of production quality. When the device’s hinge durability, screen thickness and battery management system are evaluated together, it seems that the company has made serious progress in terms of engineering. Besides all this, there is no definitive information yet on the production costs and sales price of TriFold. Despite this, it is predicted that the device will be positioned in the premium segment and will be sold at a price above the Fold series.
