With just two days left until the Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung continues its preparations for the eagerly awaited announcements. In addition to the new Galaxy S25 series, advanced artificial intelligence features and the Android 15-based One UI 7 update will also be introduced at the event. Samsung made an official statement about when it will release the One UI 7 update, which it has been testing for a long time.
According to the press release made by Samsung Korea, the One UI 7 beta program has been the company’s most successful beta process to date. Compared to One UI 6, the interest in this beta version was twice as high. It was also stated that intense feedback was received regarding artificial intelligence features during the testing process and improvements were made according to user demands.
Samsung announced that all compatible Galaxy S series devices will receive the One UI 7 update by the end of the first quarter of 2025. This means that the update will be completed by March 31, 2025. However, it was noteworthy that new foldable models such as Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 were not included in this statement.
This schedule is expected to be valid primarily for the Korean market. However, Samsung generally follows a similar timeline in the global market. Therefore, Galaxy users around the world can also receive this update in a similar period. The company is expected to share more information about the update schedule at the Galaxy Unpacked event on January 23.
What will Samsung offer with One UI 7?
One UI 7 beta versions offered important clues about the innovations that will come with the update. The new “Now Bar” feature appears as a dynamic control bar on the lock screen. Thanks to this bar, quick access to functions such as music playback and timer control will be provided. This innovation, designed similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island feature, aims to improve the user experience.
Additionally, the Quick Settings panel has been redesigned and application icons have been updated to give it a more modern look. Adjustments to the camera application interface and innovations such as the vertical application drawer are among other details that may attract the attention of users.
Samsung’s official announcement of the One UI 7 update is considered a positive development for users. However, the fact that the update comes months after the official release of Android 15 and at a time when many affordable phones are switching to this version may cause criticism. On the other hand, innovative features and user-friendly design are expected to compensate for this delay.
