iPhone 17 Air: All claims about the new model

There are many rumors circulating about the iPhone 17 Air, which Apple is expected to launch this year. This model is expected to be the thinnest iPhone ever and represent a long-awaited major change in Apple’s design approach. It is not just an aesthetic update, it is claimed that the iPhone 17 Air will adopt a completely different strategy. This device will target users who are willing to sacrifice some functionality for a slim and stylish design, distinguishing it from the more affordable base models or the high-spec Pro series.

One of the most striking details is the claim that the device will be the thinnest iPhone ever. Famous supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggested that the phone may be only 5.5 mm thick. Mark Gurman from Bloomberg stated that he expects a 2 mm thinner design compared to the 8.25 mm thickness of the iPhone 16 Pro. Other sources stated that the thickness may be around 6 mm.

If these claims prove true, the iPhone 17 Air will be one of the thinnest products Apple has ever produced. However, such a thin design also raises questions about the durability of the device and especially its battery capacity.

It is stated that Apple is working on innovative battery technologies to achieve the ultra-thin design goal. A report that appeared in November 2023 talks about efforts to develop a next-generation battery containing carbon nanotubes and special alloys. However, recent reports have suggested that the company is sticking with existing battery technologies and is considering ways to save space on other internal components to maintain the slim design.

According to leaks, iPhone 17 Air will have a battery with a capacity of 3000 to 4000 mAh. This especially shows that although the device is thinner, it aims to meet daily use needs.

It is stated that the iPhone 17 Air will adopt the LTPO OLED screen technology used in the current Pro models. This technology saves energy by reducing the screen refresh rate from 120 Hz to 1 Hz and allows the always-on display feature to work more efficiently. The screen size is estimated to be around 6.6 inches.

Apple plans to use the A19 chip in the device, but the A19 Pro chip in Pro models is not expected to be included. Additionally, it is also claimed that the device will have 8 GB RAM and support new generation Apple artificial intelligence features.

It is claimed that the iPhone 17 Air will have only one 48-megapixel camera on the back. On the front, there will be a selfie camera with 24 megapixel resolution. This indicates that the device will offer a simpler camera experience compared to the Pro series.

There are various rumors about pricing. While some sources suggest that the iPhone 17 Air may be even more expensive than the $ 1299 iPhone 16 Pro Max, others state that the device will be more affordable compared to Pro models.

What does Apple aim for with the iPhone 17 Air?

Apple aims to increase sales with the iPhone 17 Air and try a new strategy after the failures of the Mini and Plus models. It is also expected that this model will serve as a platform for testing Apple’s self-developed modem and wireless communication chips. In the long term, these technologies are intended to be used in smaller devices and even foldable iPhone models.

Rumors about the iPhone 17 Air show that Apple is taking a different approach in terms of device design, technology and strategy. The accuracy of all these claims will become clear with the official launch of the device.
