It has been rumored for a long time that Samsung will use the Exynos 2500 chipset in the Galaxy S25 and S25+ models. However, a recent rumor claims that these chips will not be included in the three Samsung Galaxy S25 models that will be released in the first quarter of 2025. It is said that the company plans to use this new Exynos chip in the Galaxy S25 FE and next-generation Galaxy foldable devices.
The main reason for the delay of the Exynos 2500 chip is that its production efficiency remains at only 55 percent. This rate is significantly lower than Samsung’s previously set target of 70 percent. Manufacturing efficiency refers to the ratio of functional chips removed from a wafer to the total number of chips and plays a critical role in measuring the efficiency of the manufacturing process.
While the Exynos 2500 chip is expected to be used in the Galaxy S25 FE model, it does not seem likely that Samsung will prefer this chip in its foldable devices. Because Samsung’s foldable phones are generally equipped with Snapdragon processors. Considering the performance problems Exynos chips have experienced in the past, this change may create a negative perception in the eyes of users and negatively affect the popularity of the devices.
Samsung recently launched the Galaxy S24 FE with a slightly underclocked Exynos 2400 chip. However, according to another leak, the Galaxy S25 FE model will be introduced in April 2024, which is an earlier date than expected. As a reminder, the Galaxy S23 FE model was released around this time in 2023.
When will the Samsung Galaxy S25 series be introduced?
The Exynos 2500 chip is planned to be built on Samsung’s 3nm production technology. However, we still have limited information about the performance of this new chipset. Although it is claimed that Exynos chips offer higher performance and power efficiency with each new version, it is a matter of curiosity how it will perform compared to competitors such as Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Dimensity 9400. Considering past experience, it would be beneficial for users to wait for Samsung’s official statements and be cautious about performance claims based on speculation.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 series is likely to become official in the first quarter of 2025.
