Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 Olympic Edition begins distribution to Olympic athletes

Samsung announced the Galaxy Z Flip 6 Olympic Edition at its Unpacked event. This special phone is being gifted to every athlete participating in the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics. The South Korean company has begun distributing the Z Flip 6 Olympic Edition to nearly 17,000 athletes who will compete in the games.

This gives athletes the opportunity to try out the Z Flip 6 before it goes on sale to the general public. The Z Flip 6 Olympic Edition comes in a special yellow color and features the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic logos on the back panel. Each device comes with an eSIM provided by mobile operator Orange, and athletes are offered a 100GB 5G data package.

The Samsung Wallet app comes preloaded with public transport passes that athletes can use, while a number of Olympic apps are also preloaded on the phone to “help athletes have new experiences and connect with new people while in Paris.”

Galaxy Z Flip 6 isn’t the first Samsung phone to get a special Olympics edition

Samsung has been an official partner of the International Olympic Committee since the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano. The company has also been releasing customized Galaxy phones since the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. The company previously prepared a special version of the Z Flip 3 5G model for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
