Samsung Exynos 2500 will have three main cores

Samsung seems still undecided about using the Exynos 2500 chipset in the upcoming Galaxy S25 series. In April, the company confirmed that it would include this chipset in its new generation flagship. However, after this announcement, no clear information was shared about which products would use this chip. Many people predicted that Exynos 2500 would be used, especially in the Galaxy S25 models that will be offered to certain markets.

But recent news shows that Samsung is focusing on alternative processors such as Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 or even Dimensity 9400 to replace the Exynos 2500. The possible reason for this is stated to be the low production efficiency of Exynos 2500.

While this uncertainty continues, Exynos 2500 showed itself on the Geekbench benchmark platform and revealed the important features of the chip.

Exynos 2500 has a 10-core structure, similar to the previous version. The chipset, model number S5E9955, features two additional main CPU cores compared to its predecessor. The processor runs three Cortex-X925 cores at 2.59 GHz, five Cortex-A725 cores at 2.25 GHz, and two Cortex-A520 cores at 1.75 GHz. Additionally, the AMD Radeon-based Xclipse 950 GPU also offers an improved structure, running at 1.3GHz with two additional GPU cores.

Although these technical specifications seem to offer a very powerful chipset, it should not be forgotten that expectations should be managed carefully. It is stated that the device used in the Geekbench test is Exynos Reference Design (ERD). This platform is one of the test platforms used in the chip development process and is not an exact replica of a commercially available phone.

These reference designs are often used by chip manufacturers for performance evaluations during the development phase of the SoC. So this benchmark belongs to a test platform that evaluates the performance of the Exynos 2500 and does not represent a real device.

As a result, this benchmark test does not provide definitive information that the Exynos 2500 will power the Galaxy S25 series. It can only be considered as a development that confirms that Samsung is still working on this chip. It remains unclear for now whether the Galaxy S25 series will be released globally with Snapdragon processors.
