Samsung’s new generation mobile processor Exynos 2500 has been eagerly awaited for a long time, while the company’s latest earning report confirmed that this processor is in the process of development. The Samsung Galaxy S25 series was released only with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset sets, which led many people to think that the Exynos 2500 was completely canceled. However, the latest financial report evaluation meeting with investors showed that Exynos 2500 is still in the process of development and can be used on certain devices.
According to Samsung’s System LSI department, the company continues to optimize this flagship set at the flagship level. The statement said that the designer work continues to be included in the mobile models to be released in the second half of 2025, Exynos 2500 said. This statement is seen as a powerful sign that Exynos 2500 will be used in some of the devices that will be released next year.
One of the most important devices Samsung introduces in the second half of each year is a foldable phone series. Therefore, it seems likely to use the Exynos 2500 in the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. However, it is known that Samsung does not come to every market with the same processor. The company can maintain the strategy of using different processors depending on the region on their flagship devices.
In this respect, while Exynos 2500 is used in some markets, it seems likely to prefer Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset in others. Nevertheless, the release of Exynos 2500 -supported models seems to be certain. This demonstrates Samsung’s determination to improve its own chipset sets and the desire to increase its competitiveness.
The leaks about Exynos 2500 revealed some important information about the technical details of the processor. The previous model, Exynos 2400, 1+2+3+4 in the form of a CPU cluster structure was used, while Exynos 2500 this structure was changed to 1+2+2+5.
According to leaks, the exynos 2500 will have the following core configuration:
- 1 Cortex-X925 kernel (at 3.3 GHz)
- 2 Cortex-A725 core (at 2.75 GHz)
- 2 Cortex-A725 core (at 2.36 GHz)
- 5 Cortex-A520 seeds (at 1.8 GHz)
On the graphic unit side, Exynos 2500 will use the XClipse 950 GPU based on AMD’s RDNA 3.5 architecture. It is claimed that the GPU will work at 1.3 GHz and offer advanced game performance. In addition, the chipset is expected to offer a NPU (Neural Processing Unit), 320 MP camera support and 8K 60 FPS video solving – 8K 30 FPS video recording capabilities.
Samsung plans to produce Exynos 2500 with 3NM GAA (Gate-al-Around) technology, one of its own production processes. However, the processor’s mass production was postponed due to the productivity problems experienced by the company during this production process. This delay is thought to be one of the main reasons why the Exynos 2500 is not in the Galaxy S25 series.
Despite the difficulties faced by the company in this production process, Exynos 2500 is aimed to be used on certain devices, especially foldable phones. It is stated that Samsung has exceeded the productivity problems experienced in processor production and that the Exynos 2500 will be released in line with the specified calendar.
Samsung Exynos can be a strong alternative for 2500 flagships
Looking at the technical specifications on the paper, the exynos 2500 seems to be a very ambitious processor. However, in terms of performance, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite and MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 chipset are not yet known.
Samsung aims to offer better power efficiency and thermal management with Exynos 2500. Especially in the previous Exynos processors over heating and power consumption problems in this model to minimize the problems said. If these goals are achieved, Exynos 2500 can be a strong alternative for flagship smartphones.
