Samsung Electronics announced that it has maintained its leadership for 18 years, maintaining its leading position in the global TV market with a market share of 30.1 percent, according to market research company Omdia’s 2023 data. This success is seen as a result of the company’s strategic focus on the premium and large screen TV categories through models equipped with the latest technologies such as QLED and OLED.

Samsung’s steady rise in the industry

Samsung’s QLED TV series has reached global sales of over 40 million units since its launch in 2017, drawing attention with the innovations it offers in technology and design. Especially in 2023, the QLED series broke a record with sales of 8.31 million units.

In the premium TV category, Samsung stands out with its leadership in TVs with screen sizes of 75 inches and above and a price tag of over $2,500, reaching a market share of 60.5% in this segment. Additionally, with its strong sales performance in ultra-large screen models such as 98 inches, it consolidated its leadership by gaining a 30.4% market share in the 90-inch and above TV market.

In 2023, Samsung’s OLED TV series also showed a remarkable performance, with sales of 1.01 million units and a market share of 22.7%. The company’s market share in the OLED industry is expected to increase further in 2024 with its expanding OLED series.

Samsung Electronics Visual Display Business Unit President SW Yon stated that they are proud to be the leader in the global TV industry for 18 years in a row and emphasized the company’s commitment to moving the industry forward. The NQ8 AI Gen3 processor, introduced at CES 2024, is considered an indication that Samsung has initiated the age of artificial intelligence in display technologies. This development is seen as an important innovation in the smart TV category and reveals Samsung’s goal of bringing artificial intelligence-supported displays to the center of home innovations.

Samsung says that the innovations planned for 2024 focus on transforming in-home entertainment systems and bringing new standards to the TV industry. Advances in processors and cutting-edge artificial intelligence features are redefining the TV viewing experience by making it easier for users to access richer and more interactive content. With these innovations, the company aims to offer valuable and meaningful experiences to consumers and continues to reinforce its leadership in the field of technology.
