Record growth and strong performance in mobile from Türk Telekom in 2024

Türk Telekom announced its second quarter financial results for 2024. The company achieved a consolidated revenue of 63.2 billion TL in the first half of the year, a 5 percent real increase on an annual basis. EBITDA increased by 22.2 percent to 23.9 billion TL, while the EBITDA margin improved by 530 basis points to 37.8 percent.

Türk Telekom’s net profit in the first half of 2024 was recorded as 2.5 billion TL, recovering rapidly compared to the same period last year. The company aims to further increase its performance in the second half of the year while maintaining its 2024 targets.

Türk Telekom maintained its leading position in digital transformation and reached 52.6 million subscribers as of the second quarter of 2024. Expanding its fiber infrastructure, the company increased its fiber network length to 449 thousand kilometers and included 32.4 million households in its fiber coverage area.

Strong performance in the first half of 2024

Türk Telekom CEO Ümit Önal, in his statement regarding their performance in the first half of 2024, stated that the number of fixed internet subscribers increased by 1.8 percent to 15.2 million, while the number of fiber subscribers reached 13.2 million. Önal emphasized that the number of mobile subscribers increased to 26.3 million and that they achieved a record increase in the last 12 months, especially in postpaid lines. Önal, who announced that they were the sector leader with a net postpaid subscriber gain of 1.9 million, stated that the revenue increase in the mobile segment was 20 percent.

Önal said that they expanded their coverage in mobile with investments made in the first half of 2024 and that their strategies focused on customer satisfaction yielded positive results. He stated that the main factors for growth in the mobile segment were improvements in business processes and sustainable strategies.

The “Fiber Mobility Era” begins

Türk Telekom CEO Ümit Önal announced that fiber networks have become widespread throughout Turkey and that they have started a new “Fiber Mobility Era.” Önal stated that 52 percent of LTE base stations are connected to fiber and that this rate will become even more important in the 5G era. Önal stated that the advantages of fiber infrastructure will be seen more clearly when 5G is adopted, and drew attention to the importance of fiber mobility in Turkey’s digital transformation.

Leadership in technology export

Önal emphasized that Türk Telekom produces and exports technology solutions not only in Turkey but also worldwide. Önal stated that they are leaders in 5G and new generation broadband technologies in particular, and explained that the number of international patents the company holds has reached 71 and that these technologies are used worldwide.

Stating that Türk Telekom’s digital infrastructure is Turkey’s technology infrastructure, Önal said that they have laid fiber networks to the most remote corners of the country and that they aim for these networks to be used by all stakeholders.

Önal stated that Türk Telekom is the most ready operator in the 5G field with its unrivaled fiber infrastructure. Önal emphasized that more than half of the LTE base stations are connected to fiber and thus have an advantage in the transition to 5G, and stated that they continue their work on developing local and national 5G technologies.
