Rabbit R1 aims to open a new page in users’ device experience with its artificial intelligence-supported interface customization feature. This feature offers a personalized experience by redesigning the device’s default interface in line with user preferences. Examples shared by Rabbit CEO Jesse Lyu include a “Legend of Zelda”-themed design, a Windows XP-style interface and a dark green raster background.
To enable this feature, users can log in to their Rabbithole account and use the “Enable Generative Interface” option from the settings menu. Then, they can create their own interfaces by entering commands for customization. For example, with an instruction such as “Create a high-quality interface themed around the autumn season”, an interface can be designed completely to suit the user’s taste.
However, this innovative feature has some negative effects on performance. Rabbit states that interfaces created by artificial intelligence run slower than the default interface and can take more than 30 seconds to process commands. Therefore, users who prioritize speed are recommended to disable the generative interface feature.
The performance of the Rabbit R1 has been the subject of constant debate since the device’s launch in May 2024. The device, which came to the fore with software problems in its early stages, has received a series of updates in the last few months. The Large Action Model (LAM) Playground feature, introduced last month, allows the device to perform certain tasks on platforms such as Amazon and Google. This feature expands the R1’s capabilities while giving users access to broader functionality.
Evaluations about Rabbit R1 are divided into two
Evaluations made after the latest updates brought different opinions. While CNET stated that there was a significant improvement in the experience of the device, it emphasized that smartphones are still a better option. On the other hand, Android Authority gave a negative evaluation, stating that the updates did not fix the basic deficiencies of the device.
Rabbit R1’s artificial intelligence-supported interface customization feature stands out as an interesting innovation for users. However, feedback regarding performance issues and user experience remains one of the key factors that will determine the development of the device in this area.
