Details about the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 were leaked very recently. It didn’t take long for the processor to become official. The 4nm chip will be positioned just below the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 in Qualcomm’s portfolio.
Qualcomm promises that the new chip will bring “exceptional AI experiences to more affordable smartphones.” Brands like Samsung, Realme, and Sharp have already started taking orders for the processor. These brands will announce their first devices powered by the processor in the coming months. However, the first phone to carry the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 will be introduced by Xiaomi in September.
The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 offers 20 percent better CPU performance, 40 percent faster GPU, 30 percent better AI performance, and 12 percent overall power savings over the 7s Gen 2. The power savings on the CPU side are only 45 percent. The Kryo CPU has one main core with a speed of up to 2.5GHz, three performance cores with a speed of up to 2.4GHz, and four efficiency cores with a speed of up to 1.8GHz. Up to 16GB of RAM and UFS 3.1 storage are supported.
The chip carries productive on-device AI capabilities thanks to the NPU dedicated to AI Engine. It also supports AI-based noise cancellation and denoising, and 200MP photo and 4K HDR video shooting. Spectra Triple ISP enables simultaneous photo and video shooting with ultra-fast parallel processing and smooth zooming.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 supports 144Hz displays
FHD+ and up to 144Hz displays are supported, while Adaptive Performance Engine 3.0 for games, Variable Rate Shading (dynamically renders objects in a scene), Adreno HDR Fast Blend (for dynamic, complex scenes), and Vulkan 1.3 API support are offered.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 supports 5G mmWave and Sub-6, SA and NSA, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, Glonass, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS and NavIC.
