Nothing Phone 4b introduced with long battery life and Glyph Bar

Nothing added the Phone (4b) model to its smartphone product range. The company states that the new model offers the longest battery life it has ever developed, and positions the device between Phone (4a) and Phone (3a) Lite. For this reason, Phone (4b) offers a different alternative in the middle segment, rather than being a direct replacement for Phone (4a). Hardware choices and pricing also support this positioning.

The version of the new model offered for sale in global markets carries a battery with a capacity of 5,200 mAh. According to the information provided by Nothing, this capacity can provide up to 22 hours of usage time in an uninterrupted video viewing scenario. In the version prepared for the Indian market, the battery capacity has been increased to 6,000 mAh. While both models offer 33 W wired fast charging support, they also have 7.5 W reverse wired charging feature.

At the heart of the Phone (4b) is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 processor. While this chipset provides a more powerful alternative to the Phone (3a) Lite using the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro, it lags behind the Phone (4a) with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor. Although there are no major differences in terms of architecture between Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 and Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, there is a difference in favor of the higher model in terms of clock speeds.

Screen, camera and Glyph Bar details

Nothing Phone (4b) comes with a 6.77 inch OLED screen. Offering 1080p+ resolution, the panel supports a 120 Hz refresh rate and can reach a brightness level of 1,200 nits in outdoor use. The peak brightness value is announced as 2,000 nits. Dragontrail Pro Glass protects the screen surface.

On the back, there is a 50 megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS). This camera, with f/1.8 aperture, is accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera that offers a 120-degree viewing angle. The main camera can record 4K video at 30 fps or 1080p video at 60 fps. On the front, there is a 16-megapixel selfie camera with an 82-degree viewing angle.

In addition, the Glyph Bar system, which has become one of the important parts of Nothing’s last generation design approach, is preserved in this model as well. Four white and one red LEDs on the back can be used for the timer indicator, recording light and different notification functions that can be customized via Nothing OS. Thus, users can follow certain notifications without turning on the screen.

While dual SIM support is offered on the connection side, the eSIM feature is only available in the model in the Japanese market. The device comes with dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 6.0 and NFC support. However, the NFC feature is not available in the Indian version. Positioning is done via single-channel GPS. The device, which offers stereo speakers and dual microphones, does not include a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Phone (4b) offers dust protection and splash resistance with IP64 certification. Although the official certification does not mean full water resistance, Nothing states that in internal tests the phone continued to operate at a depth of 25 centimeters for 20 minutes. On the security side, an optical fingerprint reader placed under the screen is used. In addition, the physical proximity sensor is also among the hardware features of the device.

The Essential Key button located on the side provides quick access to Essential Voice, Essential Search and various artificial intelligence-supported functions. Nothing has recently started to include more artificial intelligence-supported productivity features on the software side. Phone (4b) is also among the models that continue this approach.

Nothing Phone (4b) comes out of the box with Nothing OS 4.1 based on Android 16. The company announced that it will provide three years of Android version updates and six years of security updates for the model. This support period presents a positive picture for users who want to stay up to date for a long time, especially in the middle segment.

Nothing Phone (4b) is available for a starting price of €330 in Europe and £300 in the UK. While there is only a version with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage in global markets, the version offering 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage in India will be sold with a price tag of 39,000 rupees (approximately 19,200 TL). While LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage units are preferred in all models, microSD card support is not offered. The device, which comes in white, black and blue color options, creates a new option in Nothing’s mid-segment product family with its technical features and pricing.
