London-based technology brand Nothing continues to expand its audio product portfolio with a new headphone model. The company’s latest product, the Nothing Ear (Open), is not a completely wireless headphone (TWS) but stands out with its open headphone design, unlike previous models. This model, which will compete with rivals such as Sony Linkbuds, Bose Ultra Open and Huawei FreeClip, is the third audio product Nothing has introduced this year. This device, which was launched after the Ear and Ear (a) models, opens a new page in user experience.
Nothing Ear (Open), as its name suggests, allows the user to hear surrounding sounds with its open ear design. Since the ear canal is not completely closed, users can listen to music without losing their environmental awareness. The design of the device uses a curved head that surrounds the outer ear, providing a comfortable fit. The earbud stem has a transparent structure that has become the brand’s signature, and the device does not have silicone ear tips.
The headphones are presented in a transparent pill-shaped carrying case that stands out with its thin and wide structure. In addition, they are resistant to dust and water splashes with their IP54 certification.
In terms of sound quality, Ear (Open) is equipped with 14.2mm titanium-coated drivers. It offers stronger performance in low-frequency sounds with the ‘Bass Enhance’ algorithm. The device is also equipped with AI-powered Clear Voice technology, which allows the voice to be heard more clearly during calls. However, due to the open-ear design, this model does not have active noise cancellation.
How much should I pay for Nothing Ear (Open)?
In terms of battery performance, Nothing Ear (Open) offers up to 8 hours of usage time on a single charge. The headphones have a 64 mAh battery, and can extend this time to 30 hours with the 635 mAh capacity carrying case. In addition, the device can connect to two devices simultaneously via Bluetooth 5.3 and provides fast and easy access to the AI-based chatbot thanks to ChatGPT integration.
The Nothing Ear (Open) will be available for $149/€149/£129. It’s available for pre-order starting today and will be available on October 1.
